Could be wrong but. Kidderminster want 10k for ashley hemmings to go to daggers and Jason adigun going to Kidderminster on a swap deal
If the manager has seen him train and doesn't fancy him then so be it, but I thought Adigun would be exactly the type of player we would want this season after dropping down a division... Seems mad to let him go with such a small squad currently and the experience he got on Loan at the end of last seasonHarrym4737 wrote: Thu Jun 26, 2025 8:18 pm Could be wrong but. It would be a shock if this is true. He is 34 years old, has only been playing at this level for many years. He also may have had a purple patch last season but has never been a prolific scorer.
Also wonder why would Kidderminster be letting him go.
This would be a huge gamble by us.

I'm sure if my memory serves me correctly that when he played for us ten years ago during a televised cup game he went to take a corner kick and missed the ball completely and kicked the corner flag. It was both funny and embarrassing at the time but would not want him back probably for that alone.

Assuming this is true...
We'd be getting a man who scored 30 league goals in the North last season, which is unreal, but at the expense of our brightest prospect (excluding the outgoing Rutherford).
I really rate Adigun from the glimpses in a Dagenham shirt, allied with decent attacking output while on loan at Eastbourne last season as they finished third.
Hemmings, though, is coming off the most fruitful goalscoring season in his career. I have much fonder memories of him than some of his first spell - the goals against Portsmouth and Tranmere are two of the best I've seen for us.
Even if his numbers decline, you'd still expect twenty goals which would be invaluable towards our purported ambition of coming straight back up. Short-termism, sure, but a very good addition without doubt.
Another good point I've seen elsewhere is that we have Rafiq Khaleel for the 10 role, somebody Bradbury is said to rate from his time as Crawley's assistant. He merited more minutes last season I feel.
We shall see.

Joel, you say even if his numbers decline he should still get 20 goals.
He had an amazing season last year but has never been prolific.
He has never scored 20 goals in any season apart from last.
He is 34 years old.
We are letting go a player in exchange who is only 21 years old with lot of potential.
I think this would be a huge gamble for us and hope this doesn't happen.

If this is true then the day after it happens I'll go to the ground with a van full of corrugated iron and build a roof over the Bury Road end myselfHarrym4737 wrote: Thu Jun 26, 2025 8:18 pm Could be wrong but. Pretty sure that was Gavin Tomlin away at Bath City.len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 10:10 am I'm sure if my memory serves me correctly that when he played for us ten years ago during a televised cup game he went to take a corner kick and missed the ball completely and kicked the corner flag. He’s a winger, not sure wingers should be expected to score 20+ goals a season and has scored 16, 14 and 30 in his last 3 seasons.len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 11:23 am Joel, you say even if his numbers decline he should still get 20 goals.

I’m not a fan of the deal but we’re setting up to go straight back up and a season of Hemmings might be better than a season of Adigun, we also have Kaleel who is very good in that position where Adigun would’ve played.
Yes I stand corrected, you are right.steeevooo wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 12:38 pmPretty sure that was Gavin Tomlin away at Bath City.len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 10:10 am I'm sure if my memory serves me correctly that when he played for us ten years ago during a televised cup game he went to take a corner kick and missed the ball completely and kicked the corner flag. If he scores or creates lots of goals and we go straight up then yes that would be considered worth the gamble, but it's a bit if.Diggerthedog wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 12:41 pmHe’s a winger, not sure wingers should be expected to score 20+ goals a season and has scored 16, 14 and 30 in his last 3 seasons.len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 11:23 am Joel, you say even if his numbers decline he should still get 20 goals.

As an aside to the debate, I think that was Gavin Tomlin...wasn't it?len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 10:10 am I'm sure if my memory serves me correctly that when he played for us ten years ago during a televised cup game he went to take a corner kick and missed the ball completely and kicked the corner flag. Or we keep a player that doesn’t want to be here and underperforms is the other option here. Think Bradbury has made the best of a bad deal here.len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 12:55 pmIf he scores or creates lots of goals and we go straight up then yes that would be considered worth the gamble, but it's a bit if.Diggerthedog wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 12:41 pmHe’s a winger, not sure wingers should be expected to score 20+ goals a season and has scored 16, 14 and 30 in his last 3 seasons.len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 11:23 am Joel, you say even if his numbers decline he should still get 20 goals.

Yeah take your point to be fair, he may well regress to the mean, especially being 34 now. It would definitely be a move with purely short-term in mind. Adigun, bright though he's looked, is no guarantee either. You never know how youngsters will go but I wouldn't wanna lose him.len wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 11:23 am Joel, you say even if his numbers decline he should still get 20 goals.

I am fairly sure Hemmings plays in a front two these days and has done for quite a while. 85 goals from 221 games in the North (the general consensus around which is that it's stronger than the South - I don't know enough myself) are decent, 1 in just over 2 and a half games. So, he has been prolific and consistent behind just last season, even if it was a massive anomaly of course.
How much longer they can be sustained is the question and that's why it would definitely be a gamble.
