Just looked Shields up, I hadn't realised that he's nearly 23 (born 20 Jan, 1992).
Time he was making a mark on the first team or moving on?

Well they normally wheel out the old chestnut "Its to get games under his belt" but we all know that's a roundabout way of saying "We don't want him here and it'll get him off the payroll".How many players in recent times went out on loan and now feature regularly in the 1st team ? I bet both Shields and Gayle are moved on at the very nearest opportunity.I don't think either will start again in a serious game under Burnett.Goldberg, again not sure WB likes him that much. He'll be another Wes Thomas though,go somewhere else and make it there instead.Phippo wrote:Same goes for Bradley, but unless you are aware of Waynes reasons for the loans then it's a tad unfair to imply it's personal!

He could do with going to Concord Rangers or someone like that
Couldnt understand the goldberg situation. player with buckets of potential and we farm him out and bring in a renowned donkey like Agyemang. Says to me he's not considered to have a future here since they only gave him a 1 year extension, and i'll guarantee he'll walk into another club next year and start banging them in.
Sorry about your damn luck!
He's too lightweight at the moment, and just needs games, he's a similar player to JC and Rhys and they're better than him, that's all. If WB didn't want him, he certainly wouldn't have give him a new contract..Lcbdagger wrote:Really can't see how he is 'not ready yet' when he has played about 10 minutes in two or three games... even in the ESC when he was fairly average he scores a super goal... looked a threat whenever he has played in the league
its hardly pointless, we traded someone with great potential wasnt being given a look in for a renowned do-nothing who has already spent as much time on the pitch as goldberg and in the process wasted a loan signing in the one area of the team that we already had too many players for, and I cant see any reason why, these days the gulf in quality between conference and league 2 is wafer thin so there isnt that argument to play.matt_drfc wrote:But it made sense to send him on loan to conference, he done well at conference south, so steps up a level. He's definitely not ready yet and comparing him to Agyemang is pointless..
Fair enough we dont know WB's reasons behind it, but when a guys got 6 months left on his contract and you farm him out and replace him with someone who is almost at the end of his career it only sends one message to the watching fans.
Sorry about your damn luck!
Great POTENTIAL exactly, not someone currently good enough to start. Cureton is 4 years older than Agyemang and also almost at the end of his career, did that send any particular message to the fans? It's not like we've lost Goldberg, he's just not 1 of the best, say 15 players at the club, he's young, he needs games, I'd be more annoyed if he was just sitting in our reserves every week.
I wasn't keen on Agyemang at first, but I can understand it now, all those games when we've dropped deep second half and just hit it up field, we've had no one to hold it, he will do that job all day long. If we're losing, we can get balls in the box and he'll be a threat.
