Played a full 90 once last season. Last started a game in September, last played in Feb. No doubt his CV reads for someone who could do incredibly well for this level, but it also reads for someone who could barely feature because of fitness.
As we already have Maghoma, this has to be the last gamble we take in pre-season. Focus on getting more players who give you a guaranteed 30+ games a season like Hill and Rutherford who unfortunately seem to be heading out the door.
The signings continue...
As mentioned before he is injury prone and although played at higher levels hasn’t been a prolific scorer! Bradbury says that having him drop down to this level shows he’s very keen to come here, let’s hope that’s the case and he’s not just another journeyman looking for a payday. Sorry to sound negative but after last season I’m going to take a lot of convincing
Can't say I'm particularly excited about any of these signings. Mainly a bunch of journeyman, sick notes and mates which maybe accounts for the short term contracts. Cast your minds back 20 odd years when we plucked people like Benno from 'nowhere' , Chrissy Moore, CMS etc. Young up and coming striker that became stars for the club. Why aren't we targetting these players. I'm tired of reading that this player was at this EFL club and played against so and so. The reason they are now playing for the Daggers is because that is their level.
I wasn't confident of Hill staying, but do we have some insider knowledge of Rutherford's situation? Is he off too? Wide defensive/ wing back players were certainly not an area we were blessed with depth last seasonNBDag wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 2:01 pm Played a full 90 once last season. You make it sound so easy, sign young players and turn them into players that have brilliant careers a few divisions higher and we sell them on to bigger clubs.redboy wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 2:24 pm Can't say I'm particularly excited about any of these signings. If football was that easy football management would be an easy task.
Also how do you know we are not talking to younger players?
At this stage we can only assume and hope that our new manager, who has been in football a long time knows what he is doing in assembling a new squad in helping us get out of this division.
Only time will tell once we get well into the season proper.
We can’t pluck kids out of nowhere for two reasons. 1) we are nowhere. We’d have to be plucking them off of our competitors like we did with Young, and that will come at a price. 2) we haven’t got a record of doing this successfully for years. What kids have we turned into established players higher up since Still left? Absolutely 0. We tried with Blair, Day, Stephenson to name a few but no one got a chance. Why would any player come to us for that when they know we won’t give them a chance?
As for Rutherford, there was always interest in him last year and he is definitely too good for this level despite deserving to be relegated with us. Signings like Young seem to say we’re going to sell him now rather than let him go on a free next year.

Sources tell me Solihull Moors have made an offer for Rutherford of £25k which has been accepted, terms now need to be agreed with the player and his new club.
Surprised that football league clubs have not come in for him as believe he is good enough.Diggerthedog wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 7:28 pm Sources tell me Solihull Moors have made an offer for Rutherford of £25k which has been accepted, terms now need to be agreed with the player and his new club.
Just seen Kwesi Appiah has signed for Ebbsfleet... No idea if we were after him but I know we were a year or so ago... Another decent signing for a rival who scored 24 goals last year as Boreham Wood went up, in a position we desperately need strength for.

We couldn’t match Ebbsfleets wages.Lcbdagger wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 6:09 pm Just seen Kwesi Appiah has signed for Ebbsfleet... No idea if we were after him but I know we were a year or so ago... That worries me as the Ebbsfleet side last season for 90% of the campaign were the worst team I've ever seen at that levelDiggerthedog wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 8:16 pmWe couldn’t match Ebbsfleets wages.Lcbdagger wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 6:09 pm Just seen Kwesi Appiah has signed for Ebbsfleet...
