You just knew one of them was gonna go in.

I thought generally it was a decent performance but increasingly frustrated with Morias' lack of contribution and him losing possession led to their first goal. Pereria in contrast was different class and tore their defence a new one. My Shrimpers mate said to me afterwards that he couldn't believe how good he was and that he was playing NL level. My fear is that we're relying on him in every game and we've still only won one game this season. Another nice finish from Reece.

Absolutely threw that away. Bad
decisions by the manager cost us.

Am I the only one thinking jettison any substitutions (albeit unless there was an injury?) all second half we would have won that? The way the daggers came out second half and pushed them on the back foot was probably the best showing I'd seen them on the offensive for ages, then we seemed to fold, and didn't we know they'd pull it back. To watch Dion waltzing past those Shrimpers was awesome and can't wait for the next showing. Fantastic support today we don't usually get anything so good as it was today, a game with certainly lasting impressions

Even if you want to sure things up defensively you take off an attacking player and put on an extra midfielder or defender... To remove ANY wide threat in the game was absolutely managerial suicide when we lost all of our options to keep hold of possession and get the ball up the other end of the pitch... Remy or Pereira securing a free kick or corner would have eaten up a minute of time on any attack we had and Southend had literally no way of stopping Dion.

Everything got lumped in the middle with our substitutions and their Right Wing Back had 3 goals in the previous 4 games (4 in 5 now). It beggars belief that we didn't know EVERYTHING from their attack would come down that side.

The decisions would have been criminal if this was game one of the league season, not a game following three others when we have failed to hold on to a lead... only a single bit of brilliance gave us our only win when the opposition in that 1st match could have gone 2-1 up against us.

Our way of trying to hold a lead is frankly ridiculous. We lose all shape and impetus with our changes, and despite having 5 or 6 strung across our box we still apparently have no idea how to stop crosses. The token effort is embarrassing - you need to get tight and your team mates need to back you up if you get beaten.

We aren't really a possession team in that we can't beat a high press when teams come at us. So we can't see the game out by keeping the ball. And we don't seem to have the energy to be a direct team who can play in the channels and chase lost causes and kill the game by playing in the opposition half. I think the latter is more likely but our forwards need to be a lot fitter and we need to be brave enough to press ourselves late in matches.

Yep, so many points are won or preserved by being streetwise on top of just performance levels. I don't see this side as being capable of holding onto a lead in the way Woking did against us, or having the resilience to find a late goal ourselves like Southend were able to.

On the verge of a massively uplifting result after summoning real spirit to turn the game around, Daggers abandoned everything that had got them there, instead inviting suicidal amounts of pressure with predictable consequence in stoppage time.

Yeah spot on, love Strevs but this always seems really naive
