We have signed a new striker today, don’t know anything about the lad personally, but hopefully he can give us some much needed fire power in front of goal, starting with Sutton on Saturday !!

Not wishing to rain on the parade but this is what my mate who is a big Gillingham fan told me this afternoon;
''He is the laziest git I have ever seen in a Gills shirt. Clearly talented (just google his goal v Pompey last season) but puts in no shift, doesn't jump for headers, no back-tracking, looks completely disinterested.
I think most Gills fans would happily have driven him to Dagenham to get him off our books.
If he puts in the effort, he’ll score goals for fun in the Vanarama. But he's not ever done that so far in his career – hence the numerous loans. No-one ever extends…..
Sorry, wish I could be more positive.''
I did wonder when I read this quote from Peter Taylor,
'He is a player I got to know at Gillingham FC and could be anything he wants to be. Hopefully, he will knuckle down and play some games and get some goals for us.'
Hardly a ringing endorsement from Peter Taylor but maybe he can get the best from him.

This could be a turning point for him, if he is lazy we’re not a crowd to hold back on telling him. Let’s see how he gets on.
While he may not be a 30 goal a season man, Adeloye is clearly well up there with the effort and commitment... much like Mullings I would hope, if the new guy doesn't hit the ground running then we go back to what we already have and play Tomi and Balanta through the middle. We only have him until January at the moment so if the PT comments are to be taken at face value and he's a slow starter, he won't be here past January 1st

I'm afraid even prior to what any Gills fans have had to say, my initial reaction to this was also "oh no"
I must admit though, this was only initial as my opinion of him is based on when he played and scored against us at Newport a few seasons ago. The equaliser he scored hurt but plenty of players have done this against us, I more took issue against the diving, goading the crowd et al. All familiar things in football but it somehow felt he took it to another level.
I thought maybe he could have turned over a new leaf by now so personally I will be happy to allow him to arrive here with a clean slate. But he should make no mistake we currently find ourselves in a relegation battle and this is not the time for any passengers (in terms of the laziness accusations made). Despite everything I've been quite proud of more or less all of our players for at least giving 100% every game regardless of result. I expect no different here.
One thing is absolutely certain is Peter Taylor will be aware of this and surely has a plan of action. Besides if it doesn't work out, he'll go straight back in January, no biggy. I'm also not sure where this leaves Mullings whose loan I believe is until the end of the season.

I’m happy to give him a game or two to prove himself but as stated by others if he isn’t a grafter and puts himself on the line for the cause he will get some verbals from the fans as does any player, ain’t nowhere to hide if your a passenger.
Well looks like he has no choice to put effort and fulfil his potential whilst he’s here. He’s been loaned out more times than a porn mag amongst teenagers and he’s only 23. If he comes to a team that up until 10 days ago couldn’t score for toffee in a pretty crap league, and doesn’t do the business, then this is probably the end of him being a pro. Let’s hope he has realised that and does the business.

Happy to give him a chance but I really like Adeloye (as a player) and him and Balanta as a partnership.
Theyve clicked massively together the last two games and be a shame to upset it at this stage.

I don't understand the signing tbh.
The front two are already showing promise and linking up well. The only thing I can think of is dropping Balanta in to a no.10 roll just behind the new boy and Adeloye.

Did Adeloye go off injured at Dover? Might be bit more serious than we thought?
Or he’s going to play Balanta wide? Or he might just want another option.
This bloke’s record doesn’t exactly inspire joy. From what I’ve seen of Adeloye this season, his finishing is not great - he’s missed a lot of headed chances - but this bloke isn’t prolific.

The fact we let Romain go to bring potentially this guy in suggests we won't go with a proper front 2 and Balanta as you would expect we were better off in that case with a big and small man together. Interesting options either way but I'm concerned that with Mullings too we're spending money on forward players that fundamentally don't have goals in themstanton101 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 11:37 pm I don't understand the signing tbh.
