I'd say that your description applies to tomorrows game perfectly TBH.

Bearing in mind that game was on TV too. Difference was back then you knew it was going to be entertaining whatever happened. Magic night that one.
Its important that we win it but has no national interest whatsoever,Plymouth can afford to lose it unlike the cup game you are so nostalgic about. On paper we should lose tomorrow and possibly quite heavily.A draw would be a good result for us but we need 3 points really.

Hope we can blag a 1-0.

Nope you lost me. Plymouth are on a poor run of form but are big favourites tomorrow for obvious reasons (we are rubbish at home and they are top of the division for instance). I would say that if they are going to maintain their momentum thay really need to win tomorrow and will be totally up for it.

Right at the moment I am nostalgic for any kind of decent performance from us. The last Daggers win I saw was on the 25th April! The last Daggers goal I saw was on the 3rd October.

I hope we can get something out of this one, but am not expecting it. Come on lads, surprise me!

I think we'll win this one 3-0 - the opener a scissor kick from Arnu; a platitude-filled gush from Sussex Dagger; and a long-range effort (via Ipswich) from Romford Dagger.

Team wise, we should go:

----------------Cousins

Hoyte - Ayo - Clevid - Connors

---------Dunne - Labadie

Jones----------Chambers----Hemmings

------------------Curo

Assuming Nyron, Vassell and McClure are all out injured.

Comparing the crowd and interest from and in a cup game compared to what is now a regular league game is pointless.

Back then games against League Clubs like Plymouth were a rarity. Now they are part and parcel of our fixture list.

Although some of you seem to forget it, and it has taken the spark out of things over time, it actually shows how far the Club have come

We've been doing well 442 so why change the formation.

Keep the same side unless injuries dictate. In which case I'd bring in Doidge as the only striker left.

What a team that was!
Those were the days when I was genuinely excited about every game. That was an amazing side at an incredible period in our history'. No journeymen - just a whole bunch of lads at the peak of their career that would die for this club and a manager who got the best out of them. I do think everything is cyclical though. 7 years before that we had Cusack and Carr and got relegated from the conference!

Agreed. Would be very harsh to drop him.

I'm going for a 0-0 bore draw but I'll happily take a point at the moment. I'd pick the following team.

Cousins

Passley, Ayo, Clevid, JC

Mulraney, Labadie, Raymond, Hemmings (c)

Jones

Vassell.

Assuming Raymond is fit.

Possibly. I had to miss AFC Wimbledon so can't comment. I just thought Hoyte was solid in his outings before International Duty and against top of the league his experience may play a part.

I'd leave Dunne in over Raymond. Going to be a tough game and we need battlers in the middle. I'm a big fan of Raymond, I just don't think this is a game he can start in playing 4-4-2.

I'm going for a 1-2 reverse. Even though we're still on a high from Wimbledon we can't perform miracles, and also the last time we won (5 Sep) in the league the subsequent home performance (Newport) was woeful. That said, there's every chance we can stun them today and grind out a result, rendering the first goal in the match crucial.

Daggers 1 (Cureton 77)
Argyle 2 (Carey 79, Reid 86)

^ Hoping I'm wrong and we can produce a performance our loyal and vocal fans deserve.
