Not saying you've said it Sussex, just thought id clarify.Im regularly accused of being a troll for having another opinion. Not hating or particularly caring about Steve Evans, wanting money spent on a roof, wanting the TBS to be Daggers end all have provoked trolling claims.I think people screaming troll(or Nob lately) every time their opinion is challenged is somewhat misguided.

I thought a troll was someone who put evil shit on memorial sites and things like that.

Firstly, I mentioned enjoyment, not "entertainment value". Secondly, I was describing my view on enjoyment so not sure why you've mentioned it being something that cannot be measured by one person.
It would indeed be nice to have the option of an opinion without it being dismissed in the way mine has throughout this thread, especially in as some don't even seem to be able the respect for other opinions to actually read the words in them.

Being picky Adrian, going to a match for enjoyment/entertainment, not a lot different to the meaning in context of the subject being discussed. The word entertained was used on this thread more than your enjoyment, but hey.. If the cap fits.

I get it you do not enjoy coming to matches anymore. Great!! I won't have to keep avoiding your after match arguing with anyone who has a differing opinion than yours on match events or performances.

You did not even appear to aim it at him , I took it you were commenting on a post from my good friend d4e
Who evaluated the entertainment he was getting.

The sanctimonious one lectures everybody about the context of his posts and his views but is quick to jump to the wrong conclusion himself.

Nowhere in your post do you suggest who your comments were aimed at.

If he wants to think it was aimed at him let him. Hence "cap fits". Think he was waiting for the next pounce Sussex.

Not having much luck either then are you ...

If I had to score our season to date in the style of dancing on ice (some of our players might be better suited to that infact) I'd score as follows:

Entertainment 1.5
Results 0.5
Value for money (even at £8 per game) 1.1

Funny that, despite being bored you travel 600 miles only days ago to stand on an open terrace in the pissing rain watching the team you adore that are in your DNA get dismantled. Was that part of your season ticket ? or was that very expensive trip paid long before we were shit ?

What made me laugh about the majority of protesters Sunday is they give you this bollocks of boycotting and protesting yet it is only Death that will ever keep them away. Next season they will be there again and as many away games as they can make not giving a tinkers curse as to who the Manager is or what level we are playing at . They know it and I know it, why because this Club is in your blood .

To think that poor Arnu has in the past been accussed of being a troll.

See you Saturday fella.

Hmmm. Im a bit confused with this post Sussex.

Are you saying they shouldn't protest at the club to showthry want change. They, like you, loyal season tixket holders who have dagenham in their blood. As you say, go up and down the country. So I say they have the right to voice their opinions with a protest.

Or.. are you saying they shouldn't turn up as it contradicts the idea of the protest?

Please clarify. Cheers

The honest reply to that is me and pals had chosen over 2 months ago to go to Accy but make a weekender of it.
I assure you, was it not for this there's no way on earth I'd of made the trip just for the game. Don't miss a home game these days but away days are usually limited to 3 or 4 a season now.

We may moan and threaten not to turn up but you're right of course we'll be there.. as you and several other people mentioned, Dasher, Wally & Bill etc. the football is a kinda side issue from all the social aspect of the matchday.
That's not however to say I wont voice my opinion and displeasure for the tripe on the pitch at the time or that I want rid of Mr. Untouchable....

The entertainment argument is an interesting one and I guess everyone has their differing standards of what entertains them.

Fact is though, you look around the terrace durng a game and the number of people I see gazing into their phones for large parts tells me there's very little going on the pitch to a) keep them interested and b) entertaining them.
Been guilty of this myself on at least half a dozen occasions already this season where I've literally thought wow - this is ******** dire!!

But anyway yeah, see ya Saturday .... I've got a lovely sheet of A3 ready and waiting for you to hold up at Full Time!! 8-)

If I misinterpreted your post then I apologise.
You are correct that entertainment was used more, but as far as I can see only in incorrect response to me mentioning enjoyment. I'm sure you can see why I'd misinterpret that.

I happen to believe that there is a big difference between enjoyment and entertainment.

Sanctimonious is a cracker from you, especially with your 'Well as a Dagenham and Redbridge supporter its simple really I will be there supporting my team, that's what supporters do don't they ?"
It doesn't get much more sanctimonious than that really.

If that was the impression that I have created then I wish to apologise unreservedly to anybody I have offended.

It is very much hoped that as many People attend Sarurdays Game as can make it .

It is very much also hoped that everybody in attendence gives full support to the team in these most difficult of times and that with a united effort we can play our part in lifting the team to achieve better results then they have recently acquired.

I imagine we all started going over daggers cos it was an affordable football club that felt more in touch with the common man than the pantomime served up by the prem.

Whilst we all probably enjoy seeing mates and having a laugh, we all probably want some kind of footballing enjoyment. If we didn't care about the footy then I'm sure it's cheaper just to go down the pub! I don't see how anyone can enjoy it at the moment.

The football is dire the results are dire and the atmosphere is dire. We can fix one of those but it is pretty hard when there's nothing to support, and to reference an earlier point, doesn't feel at all in touch with our values. As a football league club we've always had effort and a camaraderie just like we did in the ryman. That feels like a distant memory to me.

I enjoy if we win even if it isn't entertaining. I enjoy if we show some fight and come up short. I enjoy seeing a young lad from non league trying to make a career. I enjoy seeing a rapport between the staff players and fans. Obviously I'd be entertained if we won 6-3 but that isn't the be all and end all.

Trouble is none of the other enjoyable things happen any more. It's just a few laughs with some mates and we'd be better off just doing it in the pub. Why don't we? Because the club is in our blood. So we'll do the only thing we think can help and that is to call for change.

Great post Mark.

OBVIOUSLY the football is not life or death, I think any semi-sane person would recognise that BUT when there is next to zero enjoyment/entertainment being served up on an almost weekly basis it is no wonder people are pissed off and just ever so slightly disillusioned with it all. Once already this season, despite being at the ground well in advance, me & one half of Wally & Bill (I never remember which is which) decided we genuinely couldnt be arsed with the football and so stayed up in the upstairs bar. Had a whale of a time and didnt miss the football at all. Possibly helped by fact we'd lost again.

Why do large numbers keep coming back though? Because as you said, its their club & in their blood.

When people were calling for hungry young players, I believe that meant people wanted us to sign such lads from the lower echelons - those rough gems in the earlyish stages of their careers. Players like Sam Saunders (carshalton) CMS (arlsey) & Benno (white bleeding ensign) ... and not boys from the academy' of west ham & QPR. Talented as they may be, they could care two flying ****** about our club, Im sure think they are above playing for us and no doubt cant wait to get back to their parent clubs.
Thats without even mentioning the various journey men (JC excluded - model pro) like Notsoworthy whos decision to come play for us is nothing more than a last resort.

But anyway yeah, on to Saturday - I expect nothing more than another dour game with zero atmosphere but football does have a habit of springing a surprise or two occasionally so maybe i'll be wrong.

BURNETT OUT!
