Has rejected a new deal according to Wayne..

This news is gutting to say the least, our best centre half since I've been coming over which is coming up to 9 years now. Massive shoes to replace. From the players perspective, it's understandable he's been a fantastic servant for us for 6 years now and can earn a lot more money at a bigger club in this league or even the league above in what is a short career. However this does not soften the blow for us supporters. Massive job for Wayne to find two experienced centre halves now as Gayle and Partridge are still young and would flourish more playing next to someone equally as solid as Doe. Just remember when we lost players with the stature of Benson, Greenie, Saunders etc. all is not lost. Stay positive.

When we lost Benno he was not replaced and we got relegated? Waited four years and finally got Cureton.
Probably worth mentioning our top scorer that season, Romain Vincelot got more goals than Benson did that season + you've totally disregarded Rhys Murphy's efforts. The point is no one is bigger than the club and no one is irreplaceable. Gutting to lose a fantastic player but I'm sure we'll replace him the best we can.
It's a game of opinions. @BillyCove94
Is this code that he's signing for Pompey?
It now appears likely that Doe – after 265 appearances for the club – will not be lining up in red at Fratton Park on August 8, and Burnett was quick to pay tribute to the defender.

Benson was sold that season in August no surprise Vincelot scored more. Yeah missed Murphy but then we all did most of his time here, good four months spell and that was it from him.BillyC94 wrote:Probably worth mentioning our top scorer that season, Romain Vincelot got more goals than Benson did that season + you've totally disregarded Rhys Murphy's efforts. Luton with Bingham is my guess.Dagger83 wrote:Is this code that he's signing for Pompey?

Disappointing news, but can't blame Doey for wanting to further his career. Good luck to him.
Meaning Vincelot score more for the Daggers this season than Benson did for Charlton in that year which was a suprise. Point is there's always decent replacements out there.Diggerthedog wrote:Benson was sold that season in August no surprise Vincelot scored more. To be fair though if we hung onto Benno or managed to get a decent striker in who could score more than four goals like Bas and Tomlin or someone who could score from 2 yards out unlike Marvin we would've stayed up that season. There's no ready made replacement for Doe in this side, we're gonna need two very good CB's or we might be in a bit of trouble.BillyC94 wrote:Meaning Vincelot score more for the Daggers this season than Benson did for Charlton in that year which was a suprise. In terms of League 1, I agree. Although Nurse gave it a bloody good go and we had patches of Akinde being good and Savage being effective along with Vincelot and Green's goals.Diggerthedog wrote:When we lost Benno he was not replaced and we got relegated? Waited four years and finally got Cureton.
However, we've replaced him since in League 2. Murphy and Gayle were both very good strikers at this level whilst you forget that Woodall had a decent season with us also.

Absolute body blow to lose Doey.
Anyone else fear for us next season?

Bit late to the party on this one, but gutted if we lose Doe as it looks we will. Don't begrudge him a move, although it puts us in a bit of a situation, albeit early days.
I don't think Gayle is up to the task of being a first choice centre half, which means we need to get the recruitment spot on this time around with two decent standard centre halves - no mean feat at all.

Confirmed, Doe is gone.
Gutted, but not surprised.
Good luck Scotty and big thanks.
