Good to hear Billy could be staying. Out of Doe, Ogogo, Bingham I thought BB was the certainty to go, considering the contract situation at the start of the season, but seeing him play 90 minutes today made me think otherwise. Abu being left on the bench and after hearing a few things, I'm pretty sure he'll go. I'd imagine Howelly will stay and I'm praying Doey will stay but not so sure he will now.its all good wrote:Of course Accy were ready for the beach but our team could have taken the same approach with little at stake
Poor Ade has a groin problem picked up in a full blooded 50/50 where both guys were hurt
He was absolutely sick afterwards
The only consolation is that the season is almost over so he has plenty of time to get over it
My hunch is that Billy will stay now that Wayne is carrying on
Two of three other stalwarts may go if they get a chance to play at a higher level but we have decent quality in the youngsters coming through our own ranks
Several more Academy players could break through to the first team squad in the second half of next season
Our U18 team this year was mainly made up of first year scholars and U16 boys
I wouldn't be surprised to see us dominate the U18 league next term
What a performance!

accrington didn't have much height in their team, particularly the midfield and upfront areas, we seem to do better against these types of teams.
and good save from cousins right on half time, looked like the equalizer that..

I thought the game a a whole was fairly uninteresting. They were pretty poor and folded after the second.
The highlights for me were Raymond and Jones actually getting some real game time - and having seen both of them for 90 minutes I have no idea why it's taken so long when the likes of Chambers and Labadie have been getting game time.

Things are boding well for next season (how many times have I said that in the last few years). We're more or less sorted up front, midfield looks as though we're looking ok with maybe one or two additions, just the back-line that will need some serious addressing you'd imagine.
As for yesterday, I was chuffed with that. Youngsters given game time and they performed, can't ask for much more.

Very excited about Jones. The little touches of flair he showed, even though not always working, will hopefully make homes more interesting to watch. We haven't had a forward like that since Gayle.
And if Boucard keeps up his little showboats as well, we could drown in such luxury.
At the other end of the spectrum, Yuseff's dogged and determined performance was also great to see.

My only real concern regarding the manager going forward is how many games this season he has played with guys that we, as fans didn't think were up to the job (especially with a couple of Loan moves) when we had others in the squad...Adrian wrote:I thought the game a a whole was fairly uninteresting. Not pretending we all knew Jones, Raymond, Gayle etc would be an immediate answer but we had many games where the likes of Connors, Batt, Saah, Labadie, Chambers didn't perform but still got a guaranteed start for five or ten more games...
Hopefully a smaller squad and younger team next season may mean we rely more on developing our own and letting them make the odd mistake before we chuck them out (Gayle??) and not rely on equally young Loan players who offer something maybe 1 time out of every 5 signings.
