Hopefully Leiston win that. Hornchurch is a bit of a boring draw for me. Play them almost every preseason and they have one of the worst grounds going. Not to forget that their squad of ex-Daggers will probably give us a tonking knowing our luck…

I agree that Hornchurch ground is one of the worse with the running track round the pitch, also as you say lots of ex daggers in their squad not to mention our ex manager who would be very pleased to turn us over. Despite all this, would be a local game so would much prefer a Hornchurch win tonight in the replay. I also hope that we take the FA cup seriously and put our strongest team out rather than put all our eggs in one basket trying just to getting into the playoffs.

A banana skin waiting to happen which I do hope not! They obviously did well to turn Hornchurch over so will think have nothing to lose when playing us.

I was really hoping for Leiston away before the draw was made. I went to Leiston Fc about a month ago on a Sunday afternoon to see a mate of mine Dagenham born Steve J Curtis who was playing there. Probably one of the south’s best guitarists who I hadn’t seen for about 20 years since I played on stage with him.
He now lives around the area and will be playing at the Friston Chequers that evening with his partner Greta. We’re driving there and have booked overnight accommodation.
I found the club to be really friendly and welcoming although that was in a non football situation. Very small clubhouse but tidy enough ground. Reminded me a bit of the old Thurrock ground now awaiting renovation by Grays Athletic.
No station at Leiston I think Saxmundham or Darsham via Ipswich both approximately 5/6 miles away then bus or cab.

There is a train line but it’s only to transport nuclear waste to and from the nearby power plant. Maybe they’ll do a football special

With Dion seemingly on international duty and Junior injured or if fit would Notts County allow him to be potentially cup tied once his loan period expires I wonder.Also in addition we have Eastman, Ling, Rendall and Greco-Cox all injured at the moment so seem so lightweight going into a game against opponents two divisions lower than us. It was only ever going to be a banana skin of a game but at the moment things seem to be conspiring to making this an even tougher game than it first seemed.

Saturday is also Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement. Whenever I go to the Daggers on Yom Kippur we play badly and never win. I am staying well away this time!

All the pressure is on us as Leiston are a lowly supported team that are not even doing particularly well in their own league. They beat Hornchurch in the previous round and this will now be a big game for them with nothing to lose. I’m just hoping that my fears are unfounded and we win this game and eventually get through to the third round and end up playing a premier league team. You can only dream!

They've got a handful of old pros who might be capable of raising their game for one last hurrah.

In reality though there's no excuse for anything other than a resounding win, injuries or not. The gulf in quality between these two levels is huge.
