Merge, you’re spot on. The club statement is pure corporate bulls..t. We’re Dagenham, not some big city institution. Experience, know how, leadership skills and an understanding of what our club represents is enough,
Can’t imagine what the interview will look like. Somewhere between a Mensa test and the krypton factor! If the candidate is anything like the idiots that wrote that statement, I expect Ronald McDonald to walk in.
Who would be the right man in charge next season?
Matt Gray has just been announced as the new Eastbourne manager… By all accounts we actually interviewed him last week and he said no to us, which then sparked this new statement/wave of interviews for the also-rans.
Unfortunately this is our level now, we can’t compete with Eastbourne.

We’re staring a double relegation in the face under this lot, being outspent by Hornchurch and not even a good option for a manager who’s been successful at the level above, RIP D&R FC.

🖊 It's roughly three weeks since Daggers' National League status slipped through the hands it was in.
Belated posting on relegation, the ongoing managerial search, and a sizeable rebuild which awaits over this critical summer.

Scopes done a great job at Aveley, getting a tiny side to a level they should never have been at and several players leaving for higher levels. Yes they were relegated but only once all their best players left. Would prefer this option to the other rumour of Matt Saunders who hasn’t managed anyone.
Scopes isn’t terrible, but for me he’s a risky pick as he has never managed professionally. Now Gray is out the picture (which is a complete embarrassment for the club), I don’t really care anymore. There is no amazing pick out there for us. As long as it’s not Phil Brown, I’d rather n’Guessan takes charge over him.
From the names being thrown around, Scopes seems the best option. But he's spent a long time in lower leagues and not stepped up before. So a fairly big risk.
There's plenty of good managers out there if we look hard enough. The Horsham manager has a great record but now we're in the same league. Steve McKimm too. Billy Rowley did a great job with young players last season. I hope we're casting the net and looking for the right person this time, especially seeing how long it's taking.

No idea if he is or isn't amongst those still in the running, but what is the negativity around Phil Brown based mainly on ?.
He is a massively experienced manager, with some good seasons & some bad seasons on his cv.
If we are just going on recent evidence, he was at Kidderminster last season, and they finished 3rd, missing out on the title by 3 points.
Given a fighting chance with the budget (to be seen), would we not have a reasonable chance next season under him ?.

Wonder how many fans have been sent the polite reminder that they have not purchased season tickets yet.
Frustrating that the club do continue to mis understand situations. You’re asking people to part with money for something that they do not know what to expect. No manager, no retained list, just a statement to say they continue to look for the best candidate.
Scary thing is, if its as I expect it to be Phil Brown, on coverage of the NLS playoff final, the man admitted he knew nothing about that league. If the club appoint someone who has publicly admitted he does not know the league/players we will become a bigger laughing stock than we are currently,

Heard it’s Lee Bradbury, something like 3/4th choice after several walked away from it, we should be the top job bar Torquay at this level but people don’t ant it, ask yourself why. Embarrassing club we are now, good luck to him as he will need it under this lot.
I think Bradbury or Scopes both seem good but their success hinges to a large extent on the ambition of the owners to get out of this division. I’m hoping they are going to put a reasonable amount into the playing budget to assist the manager in getting promotion back to the National League but not sure what their intentions are until a manager is appointed.Once this happens perhaps things will be a bit clearer as to which direction we are going.
No expectation of anything other than the players mentioned in this message leaving the club this summer, but as a potential returning ST holder without one this year I lost any ability to get one in good faith once both Eastman and Rees were reported as leaving the club through their respective new clubs rather than via our own Comms.Dagger Chris 1987 wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 4:18 pm Wonder how many fans have been sent the polite reminder that they have not purchased season tickets yet.

May well be an excellent season ahead where we perform admirably on the pitch but it is impossible to escape the reality that the Ownership have no idea to run a football club off the pitch, especially from a Comms position, even though they regularly refer to the 'community' aspect of the club.
Appreciate the concern about a retained list, but can this be done prior to a new manager coming in and seeing the team for at least a couple of weeks? Who would be in charge currently of determining who (if any) of the out of contract players stay next season, or do we just assume everyone not tied down for 2026 is gone?
