Nobody was shouting as loud as they are now for the Managers head, people would do a lot better putting posative energy rather then negative thoughts towards the team.

Poor bloke can't do right for wrong, the call not so long ago was to dump the journeymen and give hungry youngsters ago, Sunday he selected five players under 20 to play for us and their lack of experience contributed a lot to the defeat.

God only knows what ham scenes like Sunday are doing towards these kids, all I know is it ain't doing them any good
The last time we were in this mess was 1995/96 as far as I recall. We fired two managers that season and still went down, but appointed Lord Ted of Hardy in the end and the rest, as they say, is History.

Don't think so 9 points from 48 is poor ,4 points from 54 which would have been 2 if it was not for a injury time goal against Crewe is even worse . Now I know I was Thatcher educated but even I know which is the worst .

As I recall there were serious rumblings about John Still when we had that run, which was actually 16 games also (started with a draw at home to Torquay 27/8/11, and ended with a defeat at Port Vale 10/12/11), so 4 points from 48, not 54. I'll let you have 5 points from 51 if you want as the run ended with a draw at Burton Albion 17/12/11.

The difference though is Still was/is a legend at the club therfore had masses of credit to fall back on during that time. We had also started the season with 3 wins from the first 4 games so went into it with the same 9 points we currently have.

How do you square off 5 home wins in all matches including "proper" cups and friendlies in calendar year 2014? I prepare to be fed a load of stuff about 9th and 14th place finishes at this point. Don't bother, give me some original material for once.

Be fair Mike you can't move the goalposts. The arguement was that we have been in worse situations then we are now and got out of it.

The arguement then shifted about entertainment and enjoyment, once again I highlighted a period when I thought things were far worse.

Of course I want us to win , who don't it's just that we are in disagreement how we get there.

Anyhow things will look a bit more promising cos Saturday we are going to win

We weren't in a worse situation in 2011 because we won 3 of the first four games. Coming in to the FA Cup 1st Round we had 13 points, not 9, and were 22nd, not bottom. By mid December 2011 we were bottom I grant you and Still was getting a really bad time all round.

As for a win on Saturday, lets hope so.

This is our worse start to a league campaign in the clubs history so no we have never been in a worse position.

About this time in 1995 I would argue we were in a worse position, but there you go.

Mike makes a valid point about a lack of connection, although I would say the mind sub-conciously changes peoples outlook as time goes by. Was the 03/04 side tuned in with the support?? Were the 154 players used in 95/96 tuned in with the supporters?? I don't think so.

Were games MORE enjoyable between 2000 and 2013, probably yes, but is it still enjoyable now?? For me yes. I see my mates, I don't think about work, I catch up with other characters, people who I only really know through football. If we go down, will most of them still go?? Again, yes I reckon. Will I still get a buzz meeting in the Yeoman (sorry the Junction) each week wondering what the afternoon will hold, yes, probably. Will I still bump into Wally and Bill and D4E and the HLP on the train to away games and have a beer and a laugh, of course I will.

Mike, the reason you probably like watching your son play is because you are proud of him playing, and 100% right to. I hope one day my lad plays football and cricket on a Saturday and I will proudly stand and watch him. Maybe it is just coincidence that him playing ties in with a downward patch for the Daggers and makes you feel like that??

It is ONLY a game of football. Depends what it all means to you I guess. I await to be told I am disloyal, not committed, not proper fan, but there you go.

1995 was the date I gave for the last time we were in as bad or worse position as it is today. Happy you agree. I don't think either the 95 or 04 squads were particularly tuned to the supporters, but on both those occasions there was a change of management. Interestingly the number of players used and lack of continuity in those squads from previous seasons was a major issue. See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1428.

Again, agree with all that. Is the actual game the lowlight of a trip to football though? For me yes at the moment, it is frustrating as hell. Has it always been? No, by some distance. You have told me that you prefer away games to home games several times. Why is that? Even though we seem to play better away, I bet it isn't the football.

Again yes probably some truth in that, however he has been playing football since he was 6 and is now 18...

What being a fan is about is supporting the club. It means different things to different people. Blind loyalty to whatever is happening is just that, blind. Seeing that things are going wrong and making your point in a respectful way is a part of being a supporter from my point of view and I have been doing that for fifteen years at least. Not every item on DiggerDagger was positive about the club by any means, and those were "the good old days".
