Re: Non League Football cancelled at Steps 5/6

End of May for part time clubs I think and end of June for the likes of us.

We could conceivably fit 9 games into the second half of June but half our opponents would be cobbling together a squad by recontracting existing players or bringing in new players. I don't think it's workable.

Re: M-m-m-my Corona

Gotta work from home. Bored of it already. Think a lot of people are taking it easy and so the pace is really slow anyway, always work to do but no pressure at the moment.

Gives me a bit more time for diy jobs around the house I guess.

Re: Finishing the season

Given that there doesn't appear to be any rules in the national league regarding what happens if the season cannot be finished, I expect the board will vote on it if the situation arises. They will also need to decide whether prize money is awarded. Voiding the season is one option, and would probab...

Re: Finishing the season

You cant make the players play. But they'd probably be in breach of contract. If enough players refuse, the match is a walkover. If both teams fail to field a team, I guess it gets written as nil nil.

Re: Finishing the season

Depends on the definition of mass gathering. They could conceivably order games to be played out behind closed doors with video or audio feeds to fans. Could keep the total number of people under 50 in this scenario. To plug the gate receipts gap I guess there needs to be an emergency fund, perhaps ...

Re: Reece Grant to Aldershot

Ebbsfleet looked a really decent side last night, much better than against us. I think they'll make a big run at staying up, Fylde I think will go back to normal soon. Think we need to find 3 wins from somewhere to stay out of the bottom 4, or we'll need to win the AGM Cup.

Re: Reece Grant to Aldershot

Lasted about 75 minutes, didn't score, big surprise.

With him up top they won't be winning many games, they're welcome to him.

Re: Coronavirus

I'm still not really that clear why all sport is being called off when the vast majority of the population is being told to carry on as normal. Is it to protect the players? Makes sense for contact sports but not much sense in the others that have been cancelled. Surely it isn't to protect the crowd...

Re: Next season

The squad needs gutting. I listed on another thread the ones who DM seems to deem surplus to requirements and I can't argue with it. We need to bear in mind that some of our better players are on one year deals too, and may not want to stay in the bottom half of the conference. Manny for example cou...

Re: AFC Fylde

I don't even know why Weston cut back so much. He had a good shot with his right foot, and got a right foot assist on Saturday. He has to vary it, he's clearly capable on both sides. Became so obvious last night and easy to defend.

Re: AFC Fylde

I didn't really feel we created as much as DM mentioned. Nothing really clear cut, lots of half chances and none for any of our strikers. He probably doesn't want to slaughter them after one bad performance but that was nowhere near good enough. Fylde are a terrible side, yes they pressed hard but h...

Re: Quigley

Pretty evident already that Daryl will be trying to find new homes for Quigley, Grant, Dobson, Wright, McQueen, Luque. All players that Taylor picked regularly but many of us largely thought weren't good enough. As Jody said when he left, there's a player in there somewhere but it just doesn't happe...

Re: Results

Could've done without Eastleigh winning but the main thing is chesterfield lost. Next two are massive, winnable but if we lose both we're in big trouble.

Re: Barrow AFC Update 29.02.2020

Barrow are better than us and play in a specific style which we tried to nullify. It wasn't far away from working. I think it was the right shape for this specific game. If we had the best side or a really effective way of playing I can see why you'd keep it the same but I don't think we're there yet.
