Hi all,

Newbie here.....Ex Bishop Ward.

I have been to over 250 West Ham games, home and away 1970-1993 and over 500 Daggers games, home and away 1970 to present.

I thought it was time to share my thoughts.............

We really need a combatative midfield player, a bit like Luke Gutteridge; and also an aggressive defender like Ashley Vickers. A decent centre forward, would also make a difference, to replace Umerah.

I am glad Hess has gone, as I never really knew what he contributed to the team.

I was one of the 900 who went to Solihull.....Impressive turnout from the supporters and it was great to see the young lads singing behind the goal. We really need a roof behind our goal at Dagneham, to improve the atmosphere.

Although I have watched Daggers on and off over the years, I luckily enough began to watch them more regularly, just before Gary Hill took over; and then we always had a very strong team and I thought we would always win home games and we enjoyed a lot of success. Obviously then John Still took over and we enjoyed even more success.

The new manager seems to have got off to a good start with his signings, but obviously we need a good centre forward.

Just to say, in my view, Thomo should fall on his sword.

Looking forward to the new season, see you in the sieve.

I must agree that Ashley Vickers during that period did a great job for us but times have changed in as much as with some of his tackling would not now be tolerated in today’s football and would be booked or sent off on a regular basis.
With regard to your point about a midfield player needed, this time last season we tried to get Keenan Appiah-Forson and made him a good offer but in the end went to Southend. Had we signed him I don’t believe we would have been relegated, having lost out on his signing all season we were crying out for that type of midfield dynamo to replace him but without success.

Ashley Vickers was booked or sent off on a regular basis back then.

We used to have an 'Ashley Vickers booking pontoon' to guess the minute of the game that Ashley would get booked.
Whilst other players around him committed awful fouls and didn't get booked, Ashley never got away with even the slightest misdemeanour.
