With regard to whose fault it is that we couldn't beat a poor side, it was the fault of the whole lot of them and the management team.
Picking out two players is just pointless after that.
Cureton missed two sitters. The defence didn't have much to do but managed to present most of Newport's chances to them.
Boucaud might have won the ball a bit more today but I can't think of worthwhile pass that he made after winning the ball. Just player it back or sideways to someone in no better a position.

Not singling those players out particularly for the poor performance,it was a team effort.Nobody really shone today. If we agree the team were at best mediocre with no outstanding performers it would at least support my opinion that I still haven't been impressed by McClure or Ferdinand. If you cant stand out in a game like today's where will you ever shine ?
Anyone else got an opinion on reverting to hoofball as soon as the tall bloke (Doidge) goes off ? Burnett always takes Doidge off and puts on either McClure or Cureton.Surely Doidge has to be involved if we are going to go all hoofy again.

Funny how our only wins this season come about when Boucard wasn't playing! I'm not singling any one out as nobody covered themselves in any glory against the worst team in the league, but for me personally I think Boucard should be replaced as captain. He seems to be impervious to being dropped regardless of form and from what I've seen of him this season a stint on the subs bench wouldn't be too great a disaster.

Finally managed to wake from the self induced coma of yesterday!
That 1st 45 mins literally was as bad as it has ever been in every single department.
quality of performance, excitement, entertainment, atmosphere.
one of the ex-committee gents told me after the game he'd arrived into the ground slightly late and genuinely thought there was a minute silence going on.
There was one passage of play where we held on to the ball for a good 2-3 mins, doing the usual passing backwards and sideways. We then (Nosworthy I think) decided to pass the ball back to O'Brien all the way from the halfway line - right by the dugouts. O'Brien took a touch and proceeded to slam it out for a throw! WB seemed to notice the very exagerrated round of applause from behind the goal.
It certainly improved a tad in the 2nd half and had enough chances to have won the game. You'd of banked on JC taking one of them at least!
So were edging towards the end of September and what do we have to show for the season thus far.
3 draws - 1 win - zero enjoyment and it has all the signs of things building back up to the situation we were in back in Nov/Dec last year.
People were saying Newport were the worst side we'll see all year but I disagree.. I think our own team could be contenders for that accolade!

I watched the YouTube highlights earlier.
I'm not sure what was more impressive - that someone managed to get 2 minutes of highlights from that game, or that they left out Cureton missing from 2 yards.
I assume the 10 minutes of extended highlights contains some stretching of the term highlight.

Boucaud and Ferdinand want to sit deep. There is no attacking impetus from the centre of midfield and it's killing us. The wingers are having to come short to get the ball because the centre mods don't want to go forward with the ball. The only games we won this season were with Richards in centre mid.

Goes without saying that it wasn't a great performance. I wasn't sure about Wayne's decision to sub Doidge off, but we made a fair few chances second half with only JC's finishing costing us the win. He puts at least one of them away and we're all happy, at least to a certain extent.
Nyron should of been MOTM, another good performance from him, and we didn't lose. In recent years we have lost these games (Hereford the first to spring to mind) so there are small comforts available.

Agree with this, should we make the switch to 4-3-3 to get the best out of our wingers and get a bit more oomph in to the midfield with *scrapes barrel*...erm, Richards? Is there anyone else?

Richards was excellent pre-season and I've always thought he looked good playing against us. Get him fit and give him a go in place of either of the current 2.

Wouldn't mind seeing Hameleinen (spelling) getting another try. Looked half-decent at Charlton

Too weak for me, we need someone with a bit of muscle about them.

Crikey, I'd forgotten Raymond. Give him a go instead of Boucaud

Nice idea but until the next time he ventures off on International duty I think it's HIGHLY unlikely anyone will be given a go in his place.

One of the reasons given for him being picked to be captain is because he will play nearly all the games......Missed two already
