The Released Players Thread
Joe Sbarra released? That's a huge shock unless he has a move already planned elsewhere.

Dwight Gayle has been released by Derby... he is now 34yo
A top player in his time but hasn't played a great deal lately. Also, we had a bad experience with Freddie Sears so would much prefer a young hungry player if we had the choice.Chigwellian wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 11:51 am Dwight Gayle has been released by Derby... he is now 34yo
Older player and didn't play too much last year, but scored 3 in the 6 League games he was involved in so still knows where the goal is... After seeing Cureton last week I'm less concerned about the age of a player!len wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 12:51 pmA top player in his time but hasn't played a great deal lately. We could end up with Akinde and Gayle up front

Having just appointed a Sporting Director I'm hoping that's not the case, also Josh Rees scoring 15 goals from midfield, certainly was a big success.
Pearce could very well score 25 goals this season but I am not too upset about it. He'll be 29 before the season starts so has very little resale value, he's never played above the Conference South, and before last season he had about a 1 in 2.5 record at that level and below across his previous clubs. Other players who have shown those sorts of numbers before include Charley Kendall, Alfie Rutherford, Darren McQueen...
York are likely blowing everyone else out of the water financially because their chairman thinks he's playing a computer game with his parents money. Let them get on with it.

Eastman, Hess, Hill and Rees weren’t dregs, few more to go along with those and we will get going I’m sure. Seems like the season finished quite a while ago but we still have some 10 weeks before the season starts, long way to go yet.

Callum Reynolds anyone?
I thought he was a reasonable player for us but when his contract expires at each club including ours, he then looks for better offers elsewhere. To be fare, he is just looking after himself in what is a short career. I would not be interested in signing him, however, because he was never quick and is now 34 years old so probably slower and think we can do better.
