Hi,

I'm looking for a knowledgeable D&R supporter, who could help me out with some old Dagenham FC history.

We're going back to the Essex Thameside Trophy, when Dagenham played in quite a few finals.
Does anyone know the results of the following finals ?(and the venue ?):

60-61 Dagenham bt Leytonstone
62-63 Dagenham bt Leytonstone
63-64 Dagenham bt ???
68-69 Dagenham bt Grays Athletic
69-70 Dagenham bt ???
70-71 Ilford bt Dagenham
74-75 Dagenham bt ???

Any help much appreciated
Thanks

I think if you get hold of any Essex FA handbook they may have all this information in. They definitely did in the 1980s editions.

Pretty sure I was at the 74/75 final which was played at Victoria Road. Couldn't recall who against though, sorry.

The trophy itself was a beautiful thing, a silver ship.

Yes indeed.

Those last two teams listed are packed full of proper Daggers legends.

Interesting how players used to manage a full league season, and all these "meaningless" cups back in the day without expiring, whereas these days they get snooty about taking even the FA Trophy seriously.

As well as holding down a full time job, if I remember correctly Ian Huttley was a postman.

I don't know how but I never said ''thanks'' for listing all of those finals.

I'm very grateful lupins.

Yes that is John Still
As a player, big and strong centre half not the most mobile
Ted Hardy also played him up front a couple of times, short lived experiment
Scored for us in the Amateur Cup semi final at Millwall against St Albans
144 appearances 15 goals

Wow. Great info. Am sure his acute knowledge of the game made up his lack of mobility lol
