I think these two are great appointments by the club, I'm just sorry it has to be in such difficult circumstances, God knows how they would do given a fair crack, but there you go.
I'm also chuffed to bits that still and his love child currie have pissed off, I was sick to death of listening to the pair of them, all this half full cup cack, Christ it was annoying.
I'm glad he's back to full fitness and in charge at Barnet and looking after the most important thing in football, himself!
Good luck to Terry and Peter, it's going to be a challenge but you have my support. COYD.
And the Daggers new manager is...

Funny how Still leaves twice and gets all sorts of mud slung at him about hypocrisy and motives etc. - yet people conveniently forget this is Terry "My Club" Harris' 4th stint with the Daggers.

I imagine that no one says anything about Terry because he is always in the shadows and most times his departure was down to Johns.
But is it only me who remembers the time when he was appointed Manager of Dagenham FC and resigned 3 days later?

Think circumstances are a bit different. As an assistant 9 times out of 10 you go with the manager, as a new manager may not want to work with previous backroom staff.
Not sure Burnett would have wanted Terry to stay when he took over and Terry may not have wanted to work under Burnett. Most new managers want a complete change.
Terry has rejoined the club when it is in dire need, not left the club only to be appointed the next morning at a different club when he could have taken a pay cut to stay.
John is a legend at this club, and what he did can never be forgotten, but this time more than leaving for Luton has left a bitter taste with the difficulties around the place. The I'm the top earner comment was a cop out in my book. If Dagenham meant as much to John as he frequently states he would have reduced his wage and steadied the ship himself.

I never quite get football supporters belief that employees of their club should take pay cuts for the love of the club ie reduce their disposable income, yet supporters also moan and bleat when they have to pay more to go to a game or to buy a shirt etc ie reducing their disposable income. I’m not pointing the finger at any one person, it’s a general point.
Just because you have an affection for a football club doesn’t oblige you to cut your standard of living in order to continue to work for it or to go and watch it.

I think the issue that gripes with most of the fans is down to the way Still had told us all at the fans meeting that he had nothing lined up, yet half a day later was announced as the manager of Barnet. So it is very likely that Still had something lined up at the time and chose to dress it up as he's doing his bit by walking away and saving the club on the wage. Albeit I appreciate there may have been restrictions on what he could say, particularly if he was in contractual discussions. However, he didn't have to say he had nothing lined up.
Best of luck to him though, I appreciate he has his outgoings that he does need to take care of, like us all, and he'll be forever remembered as part of that team that took DRFC into league football.

This. I also recall the first time he left for Luton... said at a fans forum how he was 'Dagenham through and through'.... a few days later he was unveiled as Luton manager. I don't see an issue with leaving for more money.... its just a job at the end of the day. I think we all knew at the last forum that he had already agreed the Barnet deal - just maybe not officially signed it.rebeldagger wrote: ↑Thu Jun 07, 2018 11:38 am I think the issue that gripes with most of the fans is down to the way Still had told us all at the fans meeting that he had nothing lined up, yet half a day later was announced as the manager of Barnet. yep that annoyed me too, i was at that fans forum: 9pm john still `not sure what my future plans are` - 12 hours later he is photographed in his barnet clobber! He needs the dough at 68. A man worked all his adult life more likely to own a house outright and have pension schemes LOL
I think being a football supporter can actually take certain types of people into a very strange world of out and out insanity and gives some people a very warped version of reality.
Nobody cares so much about an almost bankrupt Lower league football club enough to let it completely take over their lives and make them work for nothing. Do people actually expect the manager to sink with his ship ? If you fell for all that I'm a dagger thru and thru bullshit you are sadly lacking in something. If this is you then you'll actually see my reluctance to renew as some sign of disloyalty and you'll be outraged at my position. You need help !
If anything Still could possibly be accused of taking a liberty with your feelings but that's all.

People seem to ignore the fact that whatever his so called motives were, if that’s even a thing… John and his backroom staff leaving actually HELPED and POSSIBLY saved the Football Club.
I was in the big hall talking to him at almost 11pm that night and he insisted he wasn’t close to signing anything with anyone. Am I ****** off he signed for Barnet 12 hours later … why would or should I ?

Still was odds on favorite for the Barnet job before that night he was telling you to your face he wasn't close to another job, only to have an agreed contract the following morning, yet you don't have an issue at all with that.dagger4eva wrote: ↑Thu Jun 07, 2018 3:23 pm People seem to ignore the fact that whatever his so called motives were, if that’s even a thing… John and his backroom staff leaving actually HELPED and POSSIBLY saved the Football Club.

Meanwhile, you leap all over other people's motivation at the club who are working hard to keep it alive on another thread, while almost typing the two at the same time.
Massive double standards again maybe???

If you look back through a couple of posts very close to his departure you'll see I actually as near a damn suggested he should go, purely for the reason of getting him off the wage bill.
He's a grown man, fully entitled to go where he likes. The fact he denied going to Barnet 12 hours earlier was either a lie or maybe at that point it wasn't a done deal. He DID say that he would be signing for 1 of 2 clubs. 1 of which was Barnet, the other was a more northern club that he couldn't name as they still had a manager at that point.
Either way, I don't see how me not wanting to slate the bloke for going to Barnet and helping Dagenham & Redbridge FC smacks of double standards.
Anyway - about that apology to Steve & Joe ....

You just don't negotiate a new contract in what, 2 hours? The contract was done, and agreed at the point he was telling you he hadn't got anything sorted.
I like the man, genuinely appreciate all he has achieved for the Daggers, but have not been remotely convinced by his "this is my club" routine since he upped and went to Luton.
As for apologies to Joe and Steve, they don't ignore the initial flag ban, no issue as there would have been no email to fake.
They don't present the fake email to Hopkin in the way that they did, potentially no walk out, no issue.
They don't get additional flags in after this which Hopkin took personally, potentially he stays despite all the other issues.
They come clean about where the email came from sooner, like they were asked to having been demonstrated that the email was a fake, potentially the club doesn't rip itself to bits for 6 months trying to find where the email had come from.
They only came clean because they were banned and therefore cornered. The ban is now lifted. Why should the club apologise for banning them?

i for one hope that Barnet is the Xmas /New year double header.
Then the crap about it being his Club and how hard it has been preparing a team for these games will only last a few days and we can save ourselves from having to endure it with xmas
