Charing Cross a long way from Victoria Road

A part of the city I live in (Greensboro, North Carolina, USA) has a lot or references to London. There was a big battle during the American Revolution (or whatever it is called over there, likely not even given a name.) that the British won though a pyrrhic victory.
Well, we have a Charing Cross in Greensboro, but residential and not commercial and retail. It is also in the nicer part of town, and I am an east-side person which is more people of color and more working class and poorer.
