We have all known it’s coming but today it was finally announced. First match for us is in two weeks…

Frankly it’s still just as disgusting that this cup is going ahead. Southend and Barnet have both seemingly had the sense and respect for their fans to refuse to participate, if only our club has the morality to do the same, too. Everyone involved in this, including our owners, should be ashamed of themselves.

Hopefully the rest of our fan base feels the same and will be boycotting all of these pathetic matches.

I can only assume the PL have agreed to throw some money in for this thing because I have no idea what else NL clubs have to gain from it.

I would be shocked if we sell more than 500 tickets per game. It certainly isn't a money spinning glamour competition.

Obviously on the PL side, they get competitive games for their youngsters which allows them to hoard even more players rather than loan them out. And they also got NL backing to scrap cup replays, and apparently NL backing to oppose the football regulator.

Edit: just read there's a million quid prize fund solely for the NL sides. So I imagine even just for taking part we're probably looking at tens of thousands. There we have it.

Someone tell me if the prize money is worth bothering in this cup, then I might be interested. If not it's like essex senior cup levels of non-interest for me.

From what I've read there is a total of £1,000,000 in total for prize money plus we get to keep all gate receipts. So it could work financially beneficial to our club if supporters attend. I might give the first game against spurs a try and then take it from there. I think the prices should of been slightly lower then £10. Think it should of been £5 then maybe many more fans would think for a fiver I'll go.

11 tickets sold so far, could be our lowest ever attendance, even smaller than the ESC games.

Cannot see what all the fuss is about if certain fans don’t want to attend that is there decision. Too often on here is so much criticism and negativity, whereas if the club in their wisdom see the requirement to enter this competition so be it. Low crowds can also be seen in early rounds of fa trophy and also depending on opposition in fa cup but fans show a lot more enthusiasm if we progress further.

It would be useful to understand why the club in their wisdom sees the requirement to enter this competition though, especially as a higher priority than potentially lucrative FA Cup replays.

Wonder whose ideas it was, hopefully that person is finally binned sooner rather than later.

No idea how many people watched yesterday's game, but what on earth was that second half collapse? It wasn't just watching Spurs get back to 5-5 from 4-1 and 5-3 behind, but they missed two almost open goals and three other easy chances in the last ten minutes of the game alone.

I appreciate we didn't put a first team squad out, but there is no way even a reserve XI should have been cut open that badly in the final half an hour to the point where the opposition legitimately could have got 7 or 8 goals. If that was a game to give squad members game time and let the manager look at First XI options going forward, it did very little on that front!
