First league game of the season and the perfect moment at 2.59 pm.
None of our players are donkeys
We could win the league
No pointe yet dropped
Still in all the cups
for those of you who have been at the friendlies - what starting line up would you like to see?

2-0 PK and Remy. Should be a really good game for us to start this season

No idea what to make of that... could have been ahead after 70 seconds and others thought the Morias penalty was stonewall... we also battled hard to win at the end.
That was a bloody hard watch though and the midfield was not there at all for most of the game... playing an England style keep ball all game though the keeper also doesn't help if you're eventually kicking up top to 3 small attackers! Tactically curious throughout.
Pereira clearly is too good for this league and has to stay fit all season... with him playing we can go as far as we want in this league.
Without the constant dodgy balls out from the back to their midfielders, PK and TE look really good enough to start for a promotion chasing side, especially with a top class keeper.

Not sure why Rutherford didn't start but Rendall looked short of the standard to me. Needs work before he's starting at this level.
Midfield looked really soft. Obviously it takes time to gel but on first viewing Hess and N'Guessan do not compliment each other. Both plodded about and didn't really offer any sort of challenge. Both better with the ball than without. Both like to admire their passes rather than moving.
On the plus side tho PK looked solid as did Easty for the most part and Justham. Vincent had a decent game. Cox showed a few moments of promise. Rees back amongst the chances and goals bodes well. But obviously the stand out is Pereira, what a player he is. Just a class apart.

Opening day win we can’t ask for more than that. Could have scored another 2 with the efforts that somehow hit the post. Then add to that the Morias penalty that was not given. The win was narrow and hard fault, but it also could have been an easy day in the office for us.
As an aside, I was in the shop after and I was really impressed with some of the new merch. Jackets, polos and gifts/souvenirs all looked great.

Gregory Cox looked decent today so I'm fascinated to see with everyone healthy where Umerah fits in with his height and of we keep Junior out wide ahead of someone like Remy or Hill

I mean we won so great..but I thought we were quite fortunate to do so as Wealdstone looked like the only team that would at 1-1. But as others have said Pereira class act. I'm amazed Morias played as much as he did because he looked well off it and well, a bit fat, he was a virtual passenger first half. To be fair he had a better second half and assisted the winner, so what do I know? Good to be back.

Great to start season with a win, Dion was excellent but our weakness seemed in midfield where we lacked creativity but very difficult to replace someone like Appiah-Forson in that position.

I thought we were worth the win on chances created but once we conceded we collapsed and could have easily conceded a second goal but Justham saved us. Still lots to click and gel with the side, a few look rusty due to lack of games the last year so that will come. We now have options on the bench to change thing if required and this is a big difference to last season where we couldn’t even name a full bench at times.
Great to get the win with a tough game next weekend to come, would take a draw if offered.

An opening day victory owing to the class of Pereira. His late-ish winner came when Wealdstone were pushing for one themselves up the other end having not long levelled, but it made for a justified result on overall balance.
