Well done to everyone who went today. Let’s get some results together and see how we can do

I only get to see highlights and listen on the internet and I am still learning the game. Seems the defense is stepping up in ways that they were not. What changed?
Harry Phipps.
Can you give a bit more about what he is doing to make a difference. Size, height, speed, just better heads-up play to be in the right place when needed?

Phipps seems to me quite a calming influence in the defence. And he's sort of an old school defender, he's not going to play it out from the back but is very solid; decent in the air, gets tackles and blocks in. The defence has been much better since he came in evidenced by goals conceded and possibly Onarise is getting some confidence back too as a result.

Bit of luck in all honesty to answer our American friend.

Desperate measures saw Harry Phipps go into what is obviously his best position. With injuries suspension we ran out of options in all honesty.

People were asking why we persevered with him but speaking to a couple of players parents of other players over the past two years he has not been highly thought of by the Management but also his peers.

As those opinions were based on him being in our midfield it certainly gives us options

This sudden transformation however was no secret or surprise to many travelling Daggers on two occasions a couple of seasons ago Ben Goodlife broke his nose in tight games .
On both occasions he came on and looked more then useful. One of those games was Barrow away it was nil nil at the time and we were being ran all over , not only did he put in a solid faultless 25 minute performance we went on to win the game with a last minute winner. Can't remember the other game but on both occasions he was rock solid.

It was perhaps to easy to forget because let's be honest he is not the worst player we have ever had in our midfield and he was playing really well in that area when he was struck down with the injuries that have plagued him.

Could not make it yesterday owing to a family wedding but nice surprise. Was only thinking we have potentially a very favourable looking fixture list over the next 15 games, that include the two to be rearranged and a point yesterday would have been a very good start. To take all three ,in some style by all accounts, was an excellent start to a period that will define our season.

What a day that was.

To dispatch a top side with such conviction is a serious statement and has to be a platform we can build upon. Besides some intermittent spells, which was inevitable at a side that had only lost once on home soil this calendar year, we exerted real control, supplemented by an extremely high intensity throughout.

The front two are excellent, not only with their potency in advanced positions but their unison in pressing high, without which that second goal doesn't happen. Losing McCallum seems to have made us more fluid and passing-oriented as a team. On the theme of injuries inadvertently carving out solutions, Harry Phipps...outstanding, and has brought the best from Onariase and Hare alongside him too.

Midfielders were all very good, nice to see Robinson get his first goals of the season, albeit the first was tinged with fortune. Sagaf is so, so important in our build-up too. Rance anchors the defence well during games like these although it's my understanding that he's now suspended after racking up five bookings.

Onwards and upwards. Looking at our next few games and to say they're all very winnable is a seismic understatement: Scunthorpe (22nd), Torquay (23rd) and Gateshead (24th) the next three, a double header against Maidstone (20th) not long after plus Aldershot and Oldham potentially to be fitted in too! Eastleigh is by far our hardest game but still should be won.
''Dagenham & Redbridge look a very different side to about ten or fifteen minutes ago when they were on the back foot, and here's Benson...BRILLIANT!''

Phipps, like several others handed contracts over the summer, was a big risk but thankfully this one is paying off at the moment. He was always a very good player but was a huge doubt whether he could get back to those levels and also stay fit for more than 5 games.

It feels like a very long time since we've turned over one of the fancied sides, it certainly hasn't happened enough considering our resources, but here's hoping we've finally turned a corner and can build towards a playoff place.

It happened about three weeks ago at Chesterfield.

Great win - against a really top side.

Fantastic effort from all involved - we might be low in numbers squad-wise, but those who are getting on the pitch are doing themselves & the club proud.

C'mon you Daggers :thumbu:
