Salford (H) - FA Cup Thread

Daggers and Salford City will bring the curtain down on a four days of FA Cup First Round action when they meet tonight for a clash broadcast live on ITV4.

The teams' three previous meetings all came inside five months of the 2018/19 season and produced one of each outcome: Daggers winning and drawing the league meetings but losing in the FA Trophy second round.

With a vaster selection of players for McMahon to pick from, including the supposedly fit-again Josh Walker and Joey Jones plus Matt Robinson returning from suspension, hopefully we can have a real stab at it tonight. Only twelve places separate us so there's no reason why we can't triumph.

Also interested to discover the last time we played on a Monday night...

I think being a league team with big ambitions Salford go into this game with the pressure all on them. They have a poor away record in the league, so with hopefully some of our players back there seems little reason why we cannot beat them.

Could definitely do with Josh Walker back - if he is fit.

With Salford being a league above, I see us a pretty big underdogs. Whilst their away form may be a bit iffy, you could say similar about our ability (or not) on keeping clean sheets..

Form tends to go out the window for cup matches. Would be nice if we could bang in a goal or two - especially as on the tellybox..

C'mon you Daggers! :thumbu:

Walker still out and missing from starting XI.

Not a single defender on the bench so let’s hope and pray none of the current lot pick up an injury as we really will be in trouble.

We only got 5 subs ffs and there ain't a lot in the strike force department Balanta the only one in the whole squad. Suppose Saunders could be considered but hardly going to make them scared

The lad Akanbi is a striker, who we have on loan from Aldershot, I don’t know how much we can rely on him as he couldn’t get in ATFC’s team and they are bottom of the league.

It would be nice if the club or McCallum himself came out and explained why a run of the mill red card has landed him a 5 game ban. As usual with our club, the communication has been shocking. Surely doesn’t hurt letting the fans know why their star man is missing a months worth of football.

If Akanbi's a striker then we are in big trouble.

Thought we played well but then very frustrating to concede such a soft early goal and I thought the lack of strikers compounded as we passed up several passable chances. Salford were there for the taking.

Sorry Essex forgot about him . Sadly he could not get a kick when we needed to chuck everything at them so that says how much faith they have in him.

Let's not get away from the brutal reality here we lost that game because once again the need for an imposing Centre Back is once again ruthlessly exposed within three minutes.
How many points now dropped and now out of the Cup for the want of one.

We played bloody well tonight but we paid a hell of a price for not fixing something that has been glaringly obvious for weeks.

We looked a far far better team then Salford but they had a Centre back who has everything we lack in that department . Nasty , intimidating player who gave nothing away all night

More interested in the constant drivel about the injuries. A fortnight ago we were told Walker was back , just wish they would tell us the truth if he is out for the foreseeable future let's hear it and stop giving us false hope

Yep, our fourth 1-0 defeat this season when we have conceded in the opening 10 minutes and been arguably the better team in all those defeats. How many more times this season are we going to say “ we deserved more from that” ..

13 corners we had this evening with approx 5 or 6 free kicks from out wide in promising areas and we won ONE header! ONE!! (Callum Reynolds header) No matter how good you’re opponents are defensively, that’s a terrible percentage.
Just a total waste building pressure and winning those set pieces for them to result in nothing.

Need to start winning if we play that well. Can’t keep losing games like that

If our main hub of strikers were out there tonight it would definitely have been us in the hat a few hours back, we were more up for it and even for the many thousand neutrals watching at home it was fairly good entertainment, very strange being in the TBS surrounded by so many new faces but nevertheless it put an added tonic to the night wasn't expecting that sort of crowd and the club banked a few bob! Hope we show as much eagerness up the road in up market Maidenhead weekend and break this away result hoodoo now were out of October a bad month.

Great performance but lacking in both boxes, again!

The manager said at the fans forum he was happy with the defence we won’t be getting play offs with this attitude, the mistakes were made in the summer by not bringing in a decent no nonsense centre back and come May I think it will cost us.

Where is Walker, fit to play as per the last few interviews and now nowhere to be seen but we was warned by Barnet fans he loves the treatment table.

Maidenhead is a must win now and having not scored away since 11th September and still no Walker and McCallum I’m not confident.

2 wins in 10, piss poor no matter how well you play,
