According to ssn, being transferred to Newcastle as part of a deal involving Andross Townsend moving to Palace.

Good on him... not international class but he scores when he gets a game, even against very decent opposition. If he starts 35+ games in the Championship he could easily be the league's top scorer.

Gayle to Newcastle now a done deal. They will love him up there if Rafa gives him a proper chance.

Never quite understood why he didn't get more games at Palace. His goal scoring record was pretty decent for the level, and I think he even finished as their top scorer one year!
Going from Dagenham to a club like Newcastle in 4 years is amazing though. Jamie Vardy eat your heart out!!!

Pardew said he was lazy, he only likes players that give 100% or he outs them.

He has been their top goalscorer every year he has played for them according to Wikipedia (in all competitions). Hopefully he can do really well, it was such a shame how little game time he got at Palace.
