And my, "if only" version....
Dagenham & Redbridge's squad were not performing to their true ability with Wayne Burnett in charge, says Dagger's Managing Director Steve Thompson MBE.
Burnett was sacked on Monday with the club 24th in League Two having won one of their last 16 league matches.
"There was a pattern of results over a prolonged period of time, not just this season," said Thompson. "We feel the potential of this squad was not reflected on the pitch; we feel we're under-achieving."
He continued to BBC Radio London: "We've made the decision at a point where we feel there's enough time in the season that if we make the next decision a right decision we can have a successful season."
