Views from the Sieve

There was quite a good attendance in the main hall.

The good news is that at the start of the 2016/2017 season, our income should increase by £250,000 as long as we are still in the Football League.

The bad news, is that the one player who is probably worth anything at the moment, Jodi Jones, will be gone by the end of this coming season. (IMO)

The one embarrassing moment of the night, was when the Chairman was asked his one and only question, along the lines of what is he doing in his capacity as Chairman to attract new investors to the club? He stumbled for about 30 seconds and then effectively said nothing!

Sadly, we spent the next hour bemoaning the lack of investment in the club and how it was holding back the ambitions of Wayne and the squad.

I thought that Wayne came across well, by being honest and saying that we are where we are, and unless something dramatic happens, then we will always struggle in comparison with clubs who give their manager bigger budgets.

How the current Chairman got the role is beyond me, he contributed absolutely nothing all night, and if he is the figurehead for our club, then no wonder no one wants to invest in us.

Thommo does everything, the chairman role at the club is like an non exec role in another company. He was a big backer when he run Compass hence why he probably got the current role. He does the same role that Dave Andrews did, he should make himself more visible but unless you go in the top bar or sponsors meal you don't see him unlike Dave.

Anyone that has grievance with his position can always become a full member and vote for someone else to be chairman.

Where does this "investment" stuff come from? We're (essentially) a members club, no-one can invest in us unless we change the way the whole club is structured, and (IMO) that way madness lies.

Diggerthedog, it may be my age catching up with me, but I am a Full Annual member, and I cannot remember being asked to vote on the new Chairman or being asked to propose someone else. But as I said, it may be I have selective memory these days.

TomMc, re the structure of the club. My point is that quite a few people last night for calling for more ambition. With the current structure, where we are is where we are, so we either start thinking about how to grow, or we just all accept our lot. As you say, a forum is all about opinions.

What does a full member get for the privilege then?

There were not a few people last night asking for ambition there were two people who can't quite grab the concept of it is what it is. Attendance and income will remain as they are unless someone throws money at it and we all know what happens to clubs when this happens.
