Very much this. I like the guy but he seems to be acting like a spoiled brat, hanging on to the toys when there is no hope of them ever being mended whilst he plays with them. The 19 minute rant showed a complete lack of maturity.Mike the Dagger wrote:
To be honest, he's doing pretty well at making himnself unemployable in future by hanging on and ignoring the obvious issues. Any future emloyer that drags out his 19 minute rant after the win against Carlisle will think twice about whether he's of sound mind, never mind any good at managing a football team.
If you were Wayne Burnett would you resign.

Wayne will never resign at this stage of the season, he knows if he did he will not get another job Managing or Coaching till the Summer. Plus DC & WH will probably have to be paid off as any new Man will want his own staff.
Any player who is out of contract in the summer will start to receive offers from us to extend, but nobody will sign until they know where we are.
Everyone thinks Hartlepool are gone, it's tight enough to say we can still survive. As John Sitton once famously said 'F##k the technical s##t, just get out there'.
Get 2 up top, I don't care if I have to carry JC off the pitch after the last game and he can't walk, play him. The defence is now okay, hopefully the beast will stay till the end, get LH back in the team for me, and get 4 other grafters out on the pitch.
I'm still confident we will end up 17/18th.

What I don't really understand is that he stumbled on a formation that destroyed Carlisle by accident almost and then abandoned it again almost immediately after replacing Yussuf with Agyemang and getting beaten by Stevenage. Since then we have scored one goal.
One... a single goal. That is it.
And its not unlucky as we aren't making chances and missing them, we almost seem to have stopped attacking at all.
He's totally lost any semblance of having a clue.

Hard to disagree with any of this - particularly the last comment about the Carlisle game even if I typically wasn't there to witness it.
The lack of creativity, lack of attempts on target and lack of actual goals is a worry.
Also, people say we have tightened up at the back and I guess the stats would back that up - HOWEVER, if you actually look at the last handful of games each team could and probably should have scored at least 3 a piece against us. That they didnt was certainly not because of any shoring up at the back on our part.
Also, does anyone not think it's odd that the club have publically remained SO quiet on the issue of our management and current predicament? I know we're not usually a club for airing dirty washing in public BUT you would have thought by now - after everything - they would have come out publically to either a) say they were aware of the fans frustrations and concerns and expect to see an improvement quickly or b) give the dreaded vote of confidence and say the manager was very much still being backed (or some other similar dogshit)
To say literally nothing is just plain odd imo

I live in hope that the board have some balls to make the right decision. Relegation will cost hundreds of thousands in terms of lost revenue sposnships etc not forgetting the academy will have to fold.dagger4eva wrote:Hahaha Digger what do u mean u EXPECT an announcement today, dont make me laugh mate, theres more chance of me getting a reply from David Gold asking if we can borrow 1 of their pitches at Rush Green.
Talking of which, nasty frost on the ground today, another freebie say off for the players it is then :D

Very right Dashers which makes the situation even more scary that the board are not acting.DI Mike Dashwood wrote:Will also cost a few people there jobs I would imagine (non playing/first team staff I mean).

Was actually going to suggest whether there was any chance we could use the Rush Green pitches, or even a local school that has a 4G pitch akin to what Maidstone have at their actual stadium.

The 3G at Robert Clack is brilliant, FIFA approved.NickMurphy wrote:Was actually going to suggest whether there was any chance we could use the Rush Green pitches, or even a local school that has a 4G pitch akin to what Maidstone have at their actual stadium.

It also says a lot about the character of the manager that he has accepted that we haven't got anywhere to train and so training doesn't happen.
Brittons School in Rainham has one too.
I know that in the past when the weather's been bad we've trained at the the old Beckham Academy near the O2, but that's being ripped up by developers now.
There's lots of places around that could be used, as others have said it's not really an excuse.

Excuses is all he has but never any answers. This whole scenario is very sad, all that hard work and effort throughout the last 10 years blown out of the water.

Not sure i would resign (who would?) and im pretty sure Wayne is no quitter.
BUT i would be expecting to have had the sack by now (after the Southport defeat)
Im not wholly convinced that the board want D&R to remain in this division.
Its all very well Tommo saying "dont worry - well be ok ,,,trust me.." but how exactly does he and the rest of the chaps on the board think we are going to get another 26 points from our 20 games?
7 wins , 5 draws , 8 losses
Looks about as realistic as one of (all of) aunties score predictions right now.

I’ll happily stand to be corrected but I reckon that if the reason WHY the club never used any of these mentioned facilities to train I can almost guarantee the answer would be “we could not afford it” !!
I still also do not understand why the frost covers couldn’t be put over the pitch at our own blooming stadium and have the players train on that ….. maybe that would be far too sensible an idea!

It really isn't that unbelievable that the board haven't made a statement of some sort. They clearly back him and also see us staying up, so it seems there's no problem in their eyes. I think we're finally meeting our expectations after years of succeeding them. Every year without fail we are amongst the favourites for relegation. Personally I thought the 11/12 season was worse than this season. It'll be a struggle, but we'll stay up. Pretty sure Wayne will be here till the end of the season, so people banging on about sacking him is pointless, it won't happen anytime soon if it does at all, so you might as well talk to a brick wall. To the initial post, no, I wouldn't.
