Whatever we do we better do it quickly. Players will already be doing deals. We need to sort out the retained list.

I'd be happy with a proper football man as DoF like Stilly is doing at Southend. A Steve Pitt or Alan Devonshire type (not saying we could attract either of those but you get the idea). Not a jumped up agent. Matt Gray worked for a period at Sutton with Terry Bullivant as the DoF.

You've got to then find a manager who gels well with the DoF. And if you hire a dodgy DoF and he then hires a dodgy manager, suddenly you have two to replace again. So it is a risk to go that route and they'd have to be careful. Unfortunately time isn't in our favour to be careful.

Fair point. Well made. The club may decide to go down your route and go without a DOF/Head of Recruitment but personally I'd prefer if they didn't. But being burnt once with JK, I can see your point and I'd understand the club's reticence to do the same.

I'd just like to see one in place for Dan and the new manager to lean on, otherwise it's just Thommo reporting back on football matters, no offence to him, but he's a CEO and I think Dan would benefit from another football opinion.

Let's hope the right advisor if any is appointed, MUST be somebody with Lg2/Nat LG experience as a manager or coach.

I think Dan H, has been made well aware, that he needs help with recruitment on the football side. I think he's listened( admittedly too late), and he'll get a ' football man ' in, not an ex- agent with no experience of playing or coaching.

Thankfully those responsible for the disaster in recruitment have now left ,JK and PT.
At least a new DOF/Head of Recruitment and manager won't have to work with those two.

Interesting few months ahead. Could potentially shape our future for the next few years.

Whoever we bring in, we need to hire them yesterday. Player contracts expire at the end of June, but most retained lists are coming out now and we need someone to lead the rebuilding of our squad. Who is doing this right now? Thommo? Hall? Connors? Or what’s most likely — no one.

Do you all remember when Hall said he is planning for next season with both leagues in mind? Clearly he wasn’t planning on who our manager would be, because this is one of the most critical pre-seasons we have had and Hall is already slow out the gates and ballsing it up.

The season only finished a week ago, the important thing is to get the right person appointed.

We all knew Young would be sacked since about March and we know who the right person is to appoint as Hall admitted that we interviewed him in January. They need to just get it done now as there are players with contracts expiring who we should be looking to keep next year.

Do we know who this person is that was interviewed and is he still available?

And he’s now probably told us to jog on, it’s clear these owners would have kept Young in the role if we stayed up otherwise the new appointment would have been quick.

Purely speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if we tried to speak to someone like Gray, offered lower terms or a shorter contract than was being discussed at Christmas due to the relegation and he said 'no thanks'.

Would we be offering the same money or better for someone we didn't recruit in January to get us promoted from the South rather than asking them to build us a squad to get in to League Two??

Another week ticks by with radio silence, it’s another week closer to pre season when ideally you want all your players in place yet we have not even got a new manager.

Given what a bunch of wankers our board have been with the club this last season especially, Justham, the Egyptian, sacking Strevs , appointing Lewis and even dare I say treating Lewis like shit as well, wtf would anyone want to take over here while that lot are still here making awful decisions????

A reasonably reliable source tells me konchesky or Phil brown.
Brown got experience so I'd have him. Even if he has McCann in his caravan.

Konchesky was mentioned last time and I’m pretty sure it turned out to be nonsense. Underdog have made the mistake of hiring someone with no experience once, I doubt they’d do it twice in succession. As for Brown, if he joins then I won’t be coming back to the club for the two months he lasts here. But I can see it happening as an over-correction after Young

Phil Brown did a good job at Kiddy but not for me, can we just not pick someone not in Thompson’s Nokia 3310 contact list or someone he’s just heard of before. Ffs.
