Disappointing to be told that we are to lose Dagger Player. Understand the reasons but think the EFL asking for grotesque sums from non member Clubs just shows you the way the game has gone.
Would have thought the EFL had a moral duty to the game and should be promoting Football outside Premiership Level. Ok we may not be as a Club a current EFL Member but we are still in the feeder league ,instead of trying to promote Lower Leavue football thee EFL have taken a Commercial decision ahead of the betterment of the game

Hardly surprising Sussex when you consider how they've done so well in looking in to Orient's off the field problems.SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:Disappointing to be told that we are to lose Dagger Player. Funnily enough I was just today thinking of signing up for next season. But when I clicked to register I was greeted with:
"We are sorry but this service is no longer available for new subscribers.
Please contact player.support@streamamg.com for more details."
A shame and can only echo the above statements regarding the authorities looking after lower league clubs...

Im not being funny but in todays age of 'modern technology' the club / any club could easily knock something up to provide FREE commentary & highlights & interviews to supporters (subject to any particular league rules of course)
I doubt very much that the player portal or whatever u want to call it was particularly proftable for the club anyhow

Had an email tonight when I got in from Steve Thompson explaining the situation. It appears If we get back in the EFL then it will be restored. Take D4E point and it should be replaceable but we currently appear in limbo until we know where we are plying our trade.DevonDagger wrote:Well, this makes sense now.SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:Disappointing to be told that we are to lose Dagger Player. In all honesty was never the worst fiver I spent a month. Granted the news on our Club and various interviews was where the source of the Match Day programme interviews came from so if we don't make it back I may just start buying that again.
When we were in the EFL the subscription allowed you to trawl all EFL Clubs and I use to watch recent performances of upcoming opponents to get an idea of their capabilities. A lot of them had a lot more content in their highlights , in some cases almost double what we were showing. In that respect it was good value for a little bit more then a pint a month.

What D4E said, it is not exactly hard? Guiseley have match commentary on all their games and they have a much lower turnover than us. I was going to drop the player subscription after this season anyway as even though it's only a fiver is crap really. The interviews are amateurish with lots of background noise, some games not even any highlights. Where are the Boreham Wood highlights? You can now get commentary from a the other teams local BBC coverage.
All clubs in this league get local radio live commentary coverage but as BBC London/Essex are both not bothered now I would be refusing either of them entry if we go up. I bet they don't drop Orient so quick.

The issue here is do you stick a load of money into developing an independant (non EFL) website so you can do your own thing or not. To stay on the EFL setup while not in the League will cost a fortune I have been told and of course we are hoping to get back up PDQ in which case we will want to stay with the pack.
When I spoke to the club about this back in December they were weighing up options.

Re Boreham Wood: I think that all clubs have an issue with their charges for footage and commentator access.Diggerthedog wrote:What D4E said, it is not exactly hard? Refusing any media organisation access is also a very good way of gaining very bad publicity - off the top of my head Newcastle, Swindon and Port Vale have all done that in recent years and end up gaining negative coverage nationally as a result.
