Obviously with the National League not really having a transfer window, we're free to sign players as and when we please.
That said, I wonder now the window is open for the leagues above whether this could mean any implications for us.

I see that there's what I'd describe as a 'faint' rumour of Bristol Rovers potentially having enquired for Corey Whitely. I stress this is a rumour but I suppose given they have just sold their winger Billy Bodin for a half a million it's not the most outrageous claim.

So my interest is if said rumour was true, what kind of price do we feel would be acceptable to allow Corey to move on?

And while we're at it - is there any position you'd like us to strengthen this month?

I would say at least 600,000 but now doubt someone will offer 100,000 and we will let him go

Where are you getting £600k from for Corey ? Is he worth even half that really ?
What sort of prices do decent conference 1st team players go for ?

Let's be honest nobody is going to bid over 250k for a 26 year old conference player who hasn't played well for 3 months.

I'd love him to rediscover his form here and when he's playing well he's a joy to watch. If the manager doesn't think that is likely to happen soon we may cash in. If he's going to step up the leagues it needs to be soon for him.

More offers will unsettle him further. Clearly been off form since Peterborough deliberately put in a pathetic offer right at the end of the last window.

If I was Still I would be worried about losing Ling, Robson and Ferrier in this window.

Look at the current climate for football players lately £146 million for coutinho £180 million for neymar. Football has more money than ever. Now dagenham apparently don't have to sell to stay afloat why not hold out for as much money as possible.

I agree with that last bit but just plucking some mad figure out of the air for someone like Bristol Rovers to cough up is unrealistic. Whatever his form before Corey can't score in this league for months and now can't even get s start. 600k is more than a punt for many clubs. I'd take 150 for him, which I think most chairman in lg2 would see as a lot of money.

Well doidge has scored 11 goals this season for fgr and been sold for £1million so what's wrong with the 600 000 I suggested?

You may be right. But who is gonna punt £600k on a player that their scouts havent been able to see start a game for a month and only seen play poorly for the last 3 months before that ? Doidge was a proven goal scorer in lg2 before anyone paid silly money for him. Go on be honest, if you are a lg1 or lg2 club wanting to improve your team do you really think anyone is going to risk so much money on a player who can't get a start for Dagenham?? I think we only got half a mil for Gayle initially and he was clearly a lg2 talent. Corey hasn't played that level. He ain't worth that much and I don't see anyone parting with 600 for him right now.

A player is worth what someone will pay. Whilst he isn't exactly considered a young player anymore and not in the best of form, he still has shown since joining that he can be a key player.

£600,000 won't happen though. Kieffer Moore has been scoring for fun at Rotherham, Bodin for fun at Rovers. Both higher league teams and younger players than Corey. With their value deemed at £750k and £500k respectively, I don't think £600k would be realistic.

The question is if we had a bid of say £150k, as Gravy says we don't need to sell, but would reinvesting £150k be more useful to us than Whitely scoring say another 10 goals before the end of the season (hypothetically)? We also shouldn't deny Corey his move if the offer is sound. Does anyone know when his contract is up?

I absolutely don't wish to put words in Stilly's mouth, but in this interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9gfq7Gu_60 I couldn't help note that when asked about transfers, Stilly specifically started talking about the season's form of Corey, Morgan and Sam Ling despite not being specifically asked about the players. If we were to pick 3 targets liable to be poached from others, it'd probably be those three!

Interesting quote from Hartlepool manager Harrison before yesterday's game in the Hartlepool Mail.

“I know for a fact two or three Championship clubs are looking at two or three of their strikers.
''Dagenham & Redbridge look a very different side to about ten or fifteen minutes ago when they were on the back foot, and here's Benson...BRILLIANT!''

Do you not think he was just getting his excuses in early!? Let's be honest none of our strikers could make that step. Maybe Ferrier in time but at 25 Cheek isn't going to get significantly better. Maybe some of the fringe players again in time but no-one could make that judgement now.

Apparently Hartlepool are going into Admin at some point today. Wishful thinking on his part?

I see Bristol Rovers have today signed Aldershot's Bernard Mensah for an undisclosed fee. Perhaps puts an end to the possibility Corey could put on a Rovers shirt by the close of the window.
Some mention the fee is £90,000 - which really perhaps is a reality check regarding the value of our own players!
