Views from the Sieve

Having watched the Daggers under 18's for the past two seasons I believe there are a number of other prospects who may well be able to step up in the future
The current Daggers U18 side are mainly first year scholars so when our relatively small number of 2nd year boys are out on loan or injured our team is supplemented by under 16 boys who only train two evenings a week.
So when we come up against the teams higher up the division mainly comprised of second year scholars our boys can find it hard to compete physically even though we often play the better football.
The management team often watch the U18's so the boys should get a chance when they're ready
Mason Bloomfield had a brief appearance earlier in the season but he's been plagued by injury since then although he has also been out on loan to get used to the demands of senior men's football

well it would be more if we didn't flog them at the first sign of pound signs..we have sold academy players well before they are anywhere near the first team. one recently sold to a championship team for a good few quid..just ask tommo...

I don't know about the above case but the unfortunate by product of young players doing well is the pressure they get to sign up with agents when they should just be enjoying their football and establishing themselves

Cat 3 clubs are quite happy to sell players onto higher category clubs. In fact some clubs do it as a matter of course and matches are organised so the cat 3 clubs can showcase there players. The EPPP regulations mean that the higher category clubs have to reimburse the cat 3 clubs a set amount of money for the amount of time they have been at a cat 3 club.

Academies add to the revenue of a club by selling players. not all will make it all the way to the first team for various reasons including this.
