Maybe Tamplin was on a wind up. He's managed to get a lot of bites on this.

I don't suppose many BTFC fans would know Doey if they triupped over him, yet here we have a 70+ post thread.

Re-signed for Boreham Wood.

For those panicking over the potential of law action being taken, and for the avoidance of any doubt, I can confirm my above statement is neither speculation or libellous.

No truth being massaged - just fact.

Good news... that will relieve any tension about his future

Scott was a very good player and captain also reliable in defence however money rules the roost as they say and no one has mentioned that he left the Daggers along with Luke Howell for a lower club and for more money and I would take a guess that he left Whitehawk for Billericay for the same reasons, perhaps Scott was skint and had to seek a higher paying club, that perhaps was his personal problems.

Pretty sure Doe and Howell were ditched by Burnett when they signed for Boreham and Stilly brought them back. Don't think it was money related.

Why let the truth get in the way of s good myth MTD.

My understanding is that Wayne, Scott and Luke were all hostages to fortune.

You can only spend your budget once , if a player becomes unexpectedly available if you have spent the budget before you are aware then thats that.

Not totally sure I understand that? Are you saying Burnett was forced to release Howell and Doe for budgetary reasons?

If so, almost definitely true, although our special tactical genius could probably have chosen to keep two proper Daggers rather than replacing them with some journeyman or other in his own special style. Fine judge of a player was Wayne.

Beats me how you still defend the twat that got us in the mess we are in now. No Burnett getting us in the shit, no panic spending to stay up, no need for Tamplin, no overspending, no Hopkin, no crisis.

As far I can remember, the story given was that Howells’ contract was up that summer. He was offered a new contract but with a substantial pay cut.

He asked for a bit of time to consider the offer given his other half was expecting. A short time later, he came back to accept but was told the offer was no longer on the table.

Only then did he sign for Boreham Wood.

I had heard that Doe, Howell and a few more at the club couldn't stand Burnett and he was a large part of the reason they left. It would explain why Doe and Howell returned to the club the first summer after getting Still back.

If a player has an offer from another Club that you cant match then you rightfully in my view take the view that you have lost that Player. So you then go and sign a replacement.

When the offer from another Club falls through the Player place has already been filled.

Thats one of the accounts given if i recall

That's an account.
I've heard the Howell one mentioned earlier before and that has similarities to dealings around contracts with other players - Gavin Hoyte and Jordan Seabright beings ones I remember.

It also doesn't explain the complete mess that was made of building a defence that year - signing Nosworthy who was clearly knackered, giving Matt Partridge a new contract and then binning him off early in the season and then the farce that was signing Dikamona.
