We just don't look like a team.

In a successful side, you can pinpoint combinations and link-ups all over the pitch. In this side, it's hard to pick out any two players who really do link-up well.

Your issue starts at the back and the fact our best centre-half - Robson - is playing in midfield. He's a level above Doe and Lokko, both of whom have been sub-par this season. I don't buy this view that Lokko is actually a decent centre-half with a mistake or two in him. If you're a decent centre-half at any level you don't make the number of mistakes he makes.

There are players playing out of position all over the pitch and players with good quality not being utilised in the positions in which they were signed to play. Ultimately, it's very frustrating because it feel as though somewhere within the 20-odd players we have there's the makings of a genuinely very good team who should be challenging in this division.

I'd also be very tempted to start Kandi in the next match. Whenever I've seen him come off the bench he's made things happen. Ferrier + Fejiri aren't exactly fantastic crossers of the ball and don't play to Cheek's strengths. I do really like Cheek, but I think Kandi may fit more into this system and probably deserves a crack up-top.

I'd rather not, quite frankly I thought you were talking shite the first time round.
This team doesn't want to play for the manager anymore, fact.
This team hasn't performed for the manager for a long time, fact.
A season that promised much, is petering out rapidly, fact.
Still, is unable to motivate his players, fact.
The manager doesn't know his best X1 or where to play them, fact.
You with me so far?
What utter rubbish to suggest we're missing the likes of Hawkins and guttridge! So did we miss them at the start of this season then, nonsense, we were top or near the top before we've collapsed. And both were injured for large parts of last season and yet we still made the play-offs.
And what is so wrong with changing the manager, while we're still hovering around the play off positions? Absolutely nothing, because make no mistake if we hadn't already got the points in the bag, this team would be fighting a relegation battle. They were battered today, the manager was clueless, the whole thing was a mess.
Still's been found out, teams have done their homework and he hasn't got a plan B to cope with it, times up I'm afraid.
But you stick with him, cup half full an all that.

P.s Just out of curiosity, who keeps playing Boucaud every week, regardless of form???
You should try re-reading things. It might stop you making yourself look stupid.
1) Writing fact after your opinion doesn't make it a fact.
2) We do miss Hawkins and Guttridge. They both offered things we no longer have. They might have missed time during last season but our best results and performances involved at least one of them. That's my opinion, which as others (and I'm sure you're included in) have said before to me, I have the right to state. I note that someone else has questioned if we've replaced them which you don't seem to have jumped on. Can't think why that would be. Maybe they don't tend to make you look stupid.
3) Try linking your 'up his arse' comment to your question about who picks Boucaud. Then ask yourself this: If I keep questioning the inclusion of a player, how far up his arse can I be? And then, think about how it's you that tends to defend Boucaud, which must also mean your defending his selection by Still. Once you've put all of that together, I'd suggest you'll probably want to have a sit down because you'll probably be exhausted having never actually thought about anything that much.
Everything I stated is a fact, whether you like it or not.
You would rather keep still as manager, for fear of it going wrong. Tell me then, in what way are things going right?
And finally and this is the best one, we haven't replaced Hawkins and guttridge!! So what happened at the start of the season, when we were top and banging in goals for fun?
Now go back and read your own post, you fool.

Think Adrian is right about Gutteridge. Not saying we should have kept him far to injury prone, but we never replaced that sort of player.

When he did play he was always prepared to roll his sleeves put his foot in and kick a few.

We dont seem to have his type this year a leader a worrier . They dont need to be that good. As the great Brian Clough once said about Jimmy Case. He is a carthorse but every team needs one like him

Is Robson a conference centre back though Nick? He isn't very tall and he is quite slow. He's a good footballer, he competes really hard and he anticipates very well but when we're under siege he's not got the natural physique to stop the onslaught. I think he's a great player but just trying to compare us to other more defensively tight sides.

How ironic talking about the failings of our defence and especially Centre backs. It appears that the best Centre back we had in the last two season we sold as a Centre Forward. Pompey have used Hawkins in this role for most of the season and have changed systeams on occassions to a back three. According to a number of their regulars he looks pretty solid there and will always be a better Centre half then Forward and view that has been expressed publicly by their Coach.Makes you wonder how much better we would have been last season if we only knew what we had.

We did use Hawkins a couple a couple of times in midfield and yes he looked a lot better there and going forward when needed.

TRUE.
Which by all accounts is what they are doing.

Not only have they got confidence in him to play there they also have no qualms about changing formation and have recently played with a back three.

Guy Whittingham a coach down there is of the opinion that he is not quick enough on the floor as a forward.

The question now is would we have got more for him.as a Centre back because it is clearly apparent he is well up to the job two rungs higher and next season could be playing in that role in the Championship

How much better we would have been with Hawkins at centre back? Have a day off, the vendetta against John Still from you is laughable. Whilst we weren’t exactly miserly at the back we were pretty solid last year in defence compared to now. The bloke provided almost 20 goals and you think we would have been better off if he was hoofing it up to a 600 year old Benno up top? Beyond stupid.

We got to the play offs last season when in August everyone was saying they would have said a mid-table finish would be a successful season for us. Now Still’s having a bit of a nightmare we’re going to slate him for not putting our top scorer in defence a year ago? Heads gone.

I am only widening the debate and I dont think that i am being over crutical of he Manager. Like any Manager he can only use what is available to him .

He puts faith in Players and they continuely let him down and its not all bad as one end of the pitch he is getting it so right. .

When Scott came back you accept that there was the odd mistake in him but some of his decsison making has been woefulĺ at times..

For the past three seasons we have been woefull at the back a common failing of most teams at this level

Since we have been back st this level I can count on one hand the anount of derences that i have been impressed with. Scoring goals at this level is not hard and any Centre Forward who cant do it in this League aint going to do it any higher. For the past two seasons there is only five teams who have not gone for at least a goal a game

i just find it ironic that the Player who has proved beyond doubt the best at what we have needed for a very long while was in fact a Centre Forward.

Dare say this kid has been through many hands over the years and just think what he could have acheived if he had been coached as a Centre haff from a Young age.The other soloution i woukd like to throw in the mix is Josh Staunton who left because the boss could not be guaranteed a start . Perhaps both parties would like to turn the Clock back

Have to say I found it strange that he was let go. I thought his effort level to be excellent and that was despite being played in many positions, never really did that badly yet didn't become a regular. Who reckons that he was better than lokko now though?

That’s a lot of waffle there to try and dilute the absurdity of your first comment. You may well find it ironic, although it’s far from beyond doubt that he’s the best we have had there, but you have still tried to imply that Still was wrong for playing our top scorer as a striker last season. If you want to dig out Still there are much more intelligent and reasonable things to pick from, that do not even involve the best season of football we have seen in god knows how long.

Staunton must be laughing his head off at our defensive troubles. To think the manager thought Doe was a better option.
