Daggers fans at Ebbsfleet

Just wanted to put a quick post on here about some of our fans at Ebbsfleet yesterday....

A large number of fans congregated in the George & Dragon pub near Swanscombe station for the hours before the game, consisting largely of regular away travellers (both by train and coach). Having popped into the pub myself after the game too, the barman was extremely complimentary about our fans, stating that it was one of the more relaxed and enjoyable pre-match atmospheres that he's experienced in there this season. He also said that he would be emailing the club to personally compliment and thank our fans. What's the betting that this email never gets highlighted by our club (much like the complimentary one sent to the club by the King Harry pub in Liverpool pre-Everton which has never been mentioned by the club, and no doubt other communications praising our fans from other clubs and establishments too)?

A bit of perspective perhaps....

You beat me to it Steve, there's been quite a bit negative stuff lately about our fans but what I saw yesterday in that boozer with that top man of a landlord was truly great viewing, yeah okay we all spent a bit in there, he worked he's socks off for us, but to ring a bell, bring us all to attention so warmly hoping we all come back later was marvelous, George & Dragon won't be seeing the last of me and sure many other daggers feel the same. Anybody catch his name? Nice to hear he may send a positive post about us, I fancy sending one in his direction.

This posting is on the behalf of the Dagenham & Redbridge Supporters Club.

I have been asked by the Supporters Club Chairperson to post this:-

I`ve (Russell ) received a phone call from the landlord of the George & Dragon Ebbsfleet stating that our supporters conducted themselves in an excellent and considerate manor to him and other customers adding that there was no foul and abuse language,no hint of trouble and he would welcome us back anytime as he said we where the best bunch of away supporters to drink in his pub.So well done everyone who drank in there the club should congratulate you all on your conduct,Russell and I do and I`m sure the rest of the committee do as well.

Thanks for that dnb & Russell nice touch, this thread has got me thinking, rather than start a new one what pub or club has fans felt have given us a truly good welcome and looked after us so well on our travels maybe if one feels to scale it down a bit more recent like our couple of seasons in our non League status. Obviously yesterday's performance is up there got to be tops or '1st prize' but IMO 2nd would come the Schooner pub down by the River at the back of Gateshead International stadium, had the chance to bunny well with that fine landlord as I was one of the first daggers in, the feedback later from a lot of daggers there it was stressed highly a good pre match pint, pub and very welcoming, 3rd thought the Cricketers opposite the Rugby ground by Dover Athletic stadium was top notch, great pint and a very chatty landlord who took to us all well. Get me thinking cap on more after the NY party but to every dagger out there a Very Happy New Year to u all and may we rise to the summit come end of April!

Nice one for getting this on here, and fairplay to the Guv'nor of the pub for taking the time to call Russell and pass on his thoughts. We were in a pub called the Rose on the other side of the ground with a couple of Gravesend fans I know, and it was also very welcoming, and a proper old style pub, the likes of which are quickly vanishing.

Enjoyed yesterday. Was a decent game between what I would call two proper Non League Clubs.
