Excellant footage which shows just how good Stilly
Check it out if you haven't already

Do you know where I can find this piece nomis? I've already seen it myself at the time but I know someone else who didn't and would like to. Can't find it anywhere on BT's site or YouTube/the usual lark

Corey is a player who is much better as a no.10. Since playing wide, he's lost that something. He's better in the middle.
Ideally. Drop Lokko.
Put Robson back at centre half.
Move Howell alongside Boucaud or Adams
Move Whitley centre
Play Sparkes wide

This seems a heck of a lot of changes to a team which has just gone 3 on the bounce having struggled to get results previously. I personally wouldn't drop Corey at the moment either, so I agree on that part, however, I'd sooner just straight swap Corey out like-for-like at the moment than move the whole lot around.

Mike, I've only quoted part of your post to not take up a whole page to myself but your thoughts seem to be very similar to how I feel about it.
I alluded to on the Chester (a) thread that Corey's defensive effort yesterday stood out to me yesterday. Without it sounding like a criticism, I don't believe this is something he was doing before to the same extent.
We have very attacking full-backs this season, which however good they are can always leave you vulnerable on the break. So I think adding this to his game does no harm and perhaps like with Hawkins, it's a part of his game which won't always get full appreciation unless he's scoring for fun at the same time. It's hardly a role suited to a player who isn't giving 100%, I have no doubt he's pulling his weight even if there's not a great deal of red letters to show for it.

The simple answer to this is yes. I think Whitely is quality but if he's regularly out of form someone else deserves a chance.

When Okenabirhie has been poor this season he has been dropped.

When Maguire-Drew had a disappointing run last season he was dropped.

When Hawkins had a barren run infromt of goal he was benched.

Why should Whitely be any different?

Another angle to look at this from, I think, is does Sparkes deserve a start possibly as well. Only seen him twice but an assist at Chester and a 1 on 1 with the keeper Tuesday both having come off the bench. If he can manage that in 15 min's then he must surely start compared to a guy who is sadly down on his luck.

Maybe giving a fresh Whitely a few sub appearances against some tired legs will be what he needs to get that goal to start his fire again. You can see the effort Whitely is putting into every match and how every miss or saved shot really affects him. It's not about his effort or drive, sadly its not happening for him at the moment and we have a player that fits his kind of position in form.

I've not doubted or questioned Corey's effort at any point during this rather baron spell but it is clear to see that he is just missing that zip and/or lack of confidence that he had earlier in the season.

I still believe Ferrier should have had that penalty, considering the decent form he's been in of late BUT I guess had he scored, it could've been just what Corey needed.

In answer to the OP - I'd bench him but for no other reason than to take out the firing line a bit, with the hope of getting him back firing on all cylinders again soon.

So we bench a player who has missed chances because we have a winger who missed a 1-on-1?

We've won 3 on the spin for the first time this season, with the same team in each match (I think). So keep the same team for me.

Apart from leaving it to the Manager who is best qualified and sees him in training then the obvious answer is no

He is still playing well, working hard, bothering defenders, taking good dead balls (penalty aside), getting shots off, tracking back. Is everything coming off, maybe not

Three wins on the bounce so change the team makes little sense unless its tactical

Are people knocking on the door to get in the team, maybe, is anyone banging it down, not quite

Maybe too many of us are giving opinions based on Corey at his best! It's obvious he is way off that at present, but I believe he is still worth a slot in the starting eleven.
