I think Howells had a good game so no complaints from me..Bouchard possibly not his best game, but he's still consistently decent 7/10 stuff most games for me..Guiseley looked confident I thought after their cup win but they are very limited and soon faded offering nothing second half..

The moment the Daggers learnt that Guisely actually couldn’t play football and keeping the ball low would ruin any tactics they had I thought we took control. Possibly weather and their tiredness helped us out but I’ve seen many a Daggers side that would have collapsed at going 2 down. Good result

Great result to come back and win from 2-0, well played lads. BUT!! To put it into perspective we won a game against a team that had a hard fought midweek game, are lower than us in the league and have been struggling and probably had a long arduous journey down especially if they set off yesterday.

I personally now have seen enough from the squad and the team selections and tactics employed by the management to convince me of yet another season looming in this Vanerama National League. Why have we got this recurring habit of conceding so early in the first half.
I may be wrong and sorry for the doom and gloom out of frustration, but someone please convince me otherwise.

Sussex, Adrian, Diggerdagger, Daggers4eva... ??

Whilst I can't argue with any of the points made - in fact I mentioned them myself before the game in a different thread, I think sometimes we have to accept that football doesn't always follow logic.

We can paint Guiseley's circumstances coming to this game as horrendous as we like. But ultimately unless our players simply stood aside, clearly they were not suffering all that much initially, I think we should consider that on the flip side of negatives of their Tuesday game, winning away at a flying Accrington side will have been a confidence booster too.
The table does show a struggling side, but that's mainly from their start to the season, they've actually only lost 3 of their last 14 games (FA cup included) so they're seemingly no longer getting turned over week in, week out.

That said, there's no doubt that we shouldn't be finding ourselves two behind at home in that fashion under any circumstances anyway. If the effects of midweek did in fact take hold on them in the second half, we might have caught a break. Perhaps a due one?

With the short-term recent struggle to get results, even if performances have been decent (bar Tranmere), it's good to finally get one and some goals. The result could be a weight off the shoulders off a couple players and hopefully a return to some of the more promising stuff earlier in the season.

I understand thoughts of planning for another season in this league, but Tuesday is a huge opportunity to put ourselves within three of the current leaders and well in contention again. Here's hoping.

The boys did well to turn it around yesterday but like was said above they were poor when we decided to play it on the floor, limping it was getting us nowhere. Thought Boucard was superb, as was Ling. We look a different team with Ferrier, lost without him.

What annoys me most is the square pegs in round holes, Robson and Howells do a job but are not in their best positions. Given the size of our squad I don't think JS is getting the best out of them. Why was Romaine not even on the bench, was our best player last week from the bench.

Our home form is keeping us in it.

Credit to the boys for turning it around like that. It wasn't at all convincing but we got the job done in the end and that's all that matters. Winning in any way, regardless of the circumstances or performance, usually breeds confidence so it's a positive ahead of a tough game on Tuesday.

The overall performance, though, was concerning. Too many times we were lumping it aimlessly without looking up and only when we finally had a bit of calmness and composure in possession, the chances started to come. Guiseley are a full-time team now so not sure whether fitness played as much a part as people think, the reality is despite their improved recent form they are down the bottom for a reason. They only had two real chances and a worry for our defence is that both were conceded rather avoidably, but if we were playing any other team, I feel that we'd have been beaten rather comfortably. This kind of performance is turning from a 'one off' to an 'every other week' now, but as I said we won in the end so it's not worth dwelling on providing we step it up in the next game.

Lineup was somewhat confusing and I get the impression that Still really doesn't have a clue what his best team is. No idea what Lokko has done to be recalled to the starting XI but it's obvious to see that the defence suffers without Robson in it. Howells wasn't at his best yesterday but fair play to him for filling in at left back, it's a temporary solution but not one we can rely on long-term. Ling at right-back was superb and the way he's matured since last season is incredible. Ferrier as usual was brilliant, not just the way he played but his passion. One of the youngest in the team and yet he was inspiring and leading the side yesterday. Whitely looked slightly more confident at the end but there's still something definitely wrong, and for the next game I'd be tempted to start Sparkes and Okenabirhie on either wing just to give him a wake-up call.

So all-in-all a good comeback and one we deserved after some of the luck we've endured in recent weeks. Onto Dover now, where we'll need to be at our very best to get anything. Hopefully this result offers a much-needed boost!

Lokko playing wasn't that hard to work out.
They were a big team that were looking to use set pieces as much as possible.
We don't have much height across the team. Lokko gave us more height and we didn't really end up having much trouble from their set pieces.

Whitely doesn't need a wake up call.

Lokko marked their giant 6 at corners and actually beat him in the air when the ball came their way. They had no pace at all so he was unlikely to be troubled in that regard. Good decision to put him in but wouldn't have him there every week.

How we went 2-0 down was beyond me. They really weren’t a good side at all. But to get back from 2-0 down against any side in this league is an achievement and our players should be bloody proud of it. They clearly didn’t want/know how to play football and it makes it so hard to get back into the game. Ferrier was my MOTM. Only complaint about us is that we didn’t make any substitutes at 2-2 to try and grab the game. You could see we were on our way to scoring but it was a question of if there was enough time. A few changes could have sped that up.
As for the referee, he was actually very good imo in the opening 20 mins. But then when the time wasting started he was spineless. He knew what they were doing hence all of the added time yet just didn’t seem to be brave enough to book them. Even Boucaud should have been booked when he was time wasting following his injury treatment. If the ref grows a pair of bollocks he can go to a higher level.

Every ref in the league seems to think showing the watch is enough to indicate they will add time on so I can only assume they are directed to deal with it this way.

Which is incredibly frustrating as the point is more about disrupting the game flow than the total time the ball spends in play.

It's one of the oldest tricks in the book, slowing the game down and time wasting in fact it's a tactic. The only thing the ref has to do is add it on at the end. Unless you're moaning at us for doing it too I dunno what the problem is. Geezer behind me yesterday totally lost his shit every time they had the ball let alone wasted time, people too angry over really nothing. We had the last laugh didn't we ?

ARNU I know every team does it but to start time wasting after they went 2 up in 23 mins is taking the urinal, if refs booked them more often it would help stop it. I mean there goalkeeper should have been booked for persistent time wasting that what gets people ranting and raving.

I get it, just didn't see any of our fans getting the arse when we did it. It's a tactic that's all. If the players want to risk bookings and suspensions it's their gamble.

we don't generally turn up planning on wasting time from the start of the game.
That's what guiselely did yesterday.

I pay to watch a game of football, not a bloke with a stupid beard pretending he doesn't know where the ball is.

It's part of football at all levels maybe you should watch something else and find fault with that as well.
