What are peoples opinions on the state of the squad?

Do people feel we are in another place to make a push for the title this year?

I still feel we lack an out an out left back (despite Stilly stating Pennell is an out and out left back), and I am also concerned by the number of injuries we have already in pre season, Howelly has had an op, Whitely has had an op so hopefully they will be back soon. Sparkes and Adams have already picked up injuries and are yet to play in pre season.

Impressed by the signings we have made so far, just hope it can all start to gel before the season gets going.

You're right about the left back slot, most of us have only seen Pennell two or three times so it's hard to say how he'll be, but Still knows his stuff.
I thought we could challenge for the title a few weeks ago but at that point I assumed we'd be holding on to Widdowson and signing a right back. Until we get these full back positions sorted I'm not so sure. Really happy with all the signings we've made though. Best window since 2009, difference being we actually know about the quality of most of the players this time, 09 was a load of unknowns who turned out to be quality!

Left back is a problem.

Right back we have Nunn and Ling.

ncerned at left back about the comments from John Still about Howells playing there for Luton... we let go of Raymond who could play a number of positions because we said the plan was to get specialists in. Howells wasn't even fit enough last season to play in his preferred midfield position

Ah my bad, I actually forgot about Nunn. Ling's handy to have but I wouldn't have wanted him starting week in week out

Neither full back position is strong enough currently.

If Whitely and Sparkes aren't fit in time I think we'll struggle to create. That isn't to say we should bring anyone else in but might not hit the ground running.

If we try to play as we have done so far in pre season with basically a 424 we will get hurt in midfield. We don't have any wide player who tracks back like days of old.
