York finding a way to drop straight through is pretty impressive given the parachute payment TBH.

3 up, 3 down opens up the chances for Non-league sides to climb the greasy pole, and for clubs relegated to get back up, but it isn't going to happen any time soon. The turkeys have to vote for Christmas.

I don't want 3 up. It should be tough to get into the FL.

Getting a team into the FL should be tough, thus emphasising the achievement of doing it. The only way I'd have 3 up is by having a play off game between the 22nd team in L2 and 3rd in conference like in Scotland.
"Starting over can be challenging, but also it can be a great opportunity to do things differently"

Or in Dagenhams case, Terribly!

In Scotland, 2nd to 4th play-off then the winner faces 2nd bottom of the league above.
Personally a relegation place should be played under play off conditions just the same as promotion. Take the season just finished. The 4th bottom spot would be played 21st up to 18th withe the winners of the semi and final staying up. Thus could extend the season for more teams in the lower half of the table making it more competitive as some tend to switch off when safe!!

It should be FOUR up / 4 down. 3 teams exchange from the Prem to the Championship, and 3 from the Championship to "tier 3". Between "tier 3" & "tier 4" there are 4 up and 4 down.... So why just 2 teams?? At the bottom of the Conference (or whatever it's called these days), 4 go down to Conf North & South and from there it's 2 back up each but North & South re-constitute dependent on the location of the relegated teams (eg 3 might be 'north' one year).

It really should be FOUR up/down; 3 promoted by right................ and just like all the others mentioned above............. the fourth promoted side to come from a play-off competition to take place between the teams finishing between fourth and seventh.

This is actually a good idea too... If it were 4 up / 4 down, then 18th & 21st play each other + 19th -v- 20th with the LOSERS of this pair of matched to play home and away with the LOSERs of the 'final tie' getting the drop too - so we could have 18th, 22nd, 23rd & 24th getting relegated. Something to play for for everyone.

No that's stupid.

A team who finishes 10/12/15 points clear of another team and 3 spaces higher should be relegated because they a play off?

Relegation play off is no different to promotion. Let's take lg2 final casings. If say 4 down then 17th to 21st play off. Crewe finished 17th this season on 55pts with Cheltenham finishing 21st on 50pts. Not much in it tbh. No different really to team finishing 4th compared to 7th, which is acceptable every year from lge2. This whole concept just keeps more teams, playing for real as ones right up to the end of the campaign.
