This is a club from step 6 of Non-league.SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:Sounds like a poor result especially as Jodi played, but for god sake the academy has surely proved its worth by producing three players who have gone onto much better things and another who we sold for a fee last season.Mark wrote:A professional football academy vs the youth team of an eastern counties side. Our academy is hardly failing having produced one International footballer, one who is alleged to have stirred any amount of interest from a number of teams, another is playing at a higher level and an even younger lad that we sold to Reading last season .
FFS that's four players I know of that have been through our academy, two that have generated income. What more a we expecting.
The continued cheap shots at the Management at every given opportunity is now going to ridiculous lengths
No professional club should be losing to them IN EXTRA TIME. Had it been an odd goal defeat in 90 minutes you can perhaps use all the cliches about it being their cup final, the pitch was a leveller etc. But to take it to extra time and not win, our kids train every day FFS, their's will be a bunch of school kids just off half term.
Better way to go out that lasn year though.

Masterful work by the Academy to release him!
Definitely not having a dig at the first team management here just commenting on how poor the result is.SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:Sounds like a poor result especially as Jodi played, but for god sake the academy has surely proved its worth by producing three players who have gone onto much better things and another who we sold for a fee last season.Mark wrote:A professional football academy vs the youth team of an eastern counties side. When he was released John Still was in charge, don't tell me he had no say in the decision.Mike the Dagger wrote:This guy?SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:Ricardo Santos

Also there is a bucketful of players rejected by Clubs at Youth Level that went on to command massive transfer fees.
Only saw a similar thing last night on that Sport Doc Class of 92. Phil Neville discovered a player and the management of the team they co-own did not fancy him. Weeks later he signed a contract with Manchester United.
Even the very best make mistakes.
This nonsense about pro team getting defeated by a team 6 levels below. They may come from a Pro Club but they are hardly Pro themselves, they are academy players and the only thing they have in common is they are under 18, some I dare say are nearer 17 then 18 .

They are "scholars", they are coached and train every day. You could see the difference in physique between the players for Stevenage and for Aveley on Monday.SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:

If Woodbridge Town can pick up a team locally that can beat our expensively funded and coached Academy for nothing, in fact i would suspect the kids parents pay a significant fee for the priviledge, then what is the point of it?
According to another thread here the Academy costs us £500k per season.

Thought the final score was 4-4 , so we drew with a Club Youth team from a lesser Club if that's what they are.Mike the Dagger wrote:They are "scholars", they are coached and train every day. Also the 500k that it costs the Club is heavily subsidised by FA funding owing to the status granted, a status that many tried but very few acheived.

Properly clutching at straws there Sussex. This is a shocking result any way you look at it.SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:Thought the final score was 4-4 , so we drew with a Club Youth team from a lesser Club if that's what they are.Mike the Dagger wrote:

How much do the FA pay? Where is that documented?
